It’s also known as Omerta 6/12 or 6/12, which refers to Finland’s Independence Day on December 6. When the Presidential Palace is invaded and the president is kidnapped, a holiday party in Finland takes a sad turn. It is quickly apparent that the major goal of the strike is to disrupt European security.
That sounds a lot like Olympus Has Fallen or White House Down in Finland. Pertti Sveholm,Jasper Pääkkönen, Nanna Blondell, Sverrir Gudnason, Cathy Belton, Nika Savolainen, Juhan Ulfsak, Zijad Gracic, Miodrag Stojanovic, and Dragomir Mrsic are among the cast members of the action picture. This looks hyper-stylized and intense, but the quality is a little made-for-TV. It could still be fun to watch.

Jari Olavi Rantala wrote the screenplay, which was based on a script by Antti J. Jokinen and Mika Karttunen. Antti J. Jokinen, Evelin Penttilä, Sirkka Rautiainen, and Mikko Tenhunen produced the film. Last October, it made its debut in Finland. Attack on Finland will be released in select US theatres and on VOD on July 1st, 2022 by Goldwyn Films.

Aku Louhimies wishes for viewers to be able to relate to the characters.
With this action-thriller, Finnish director Aku Louhimies pushed into the uncharted ground. With a background in theatre, he brings to the table a strong desire for the audience to empathize with the characters. The idea is to make them feel more human so that the picture may be interesting without relying on the more spectacular, big-budget Hollywood effects.
“This is the first time I’ve tried my hand at this genre,” Louhimies told Cineuropa. “I’ve only done dramas, but these films may be so plot-driven at times that I don’t give a damn if somebody dies or not. I’m attempting to convey enough background knowledge for you to be interested without making my protagonists become alcoholics or insomniacs.”
He continued, “All I want to do is make them human. Actually, I think I’m trying to humanise them more than I’m trying to burden them with flaws – largely by having them deal with difficulties that we can all connect to, since obviously not everyone can relate to being a raging alcoholic. Because we don’t have the same finances as the Americans, I’ll have to incorporate human nature into this action-thriller in order for it to succeed.”
“It’s obviously nothing like James Bond,” Louhimies continues, dismissing suggestions that the film’s protagonist is an international version of 007. “Tom Clancy comes to mind as an excellent example – he might even be Ilkka Remes’ favorite author! I modified a few things from the books to make it more character-driven, but everything in the film is possible. And ideally, because it’s a gripping kidnapping story, we’ll be able to keep the entertainment factor intact.”
On July 1, 2022, Attack on Finland will be released.
