1. Sagiri Izumi
The anime narrates the tale of a 13-year-old girl, who has been learning to draw from her mother. She started at an early age, and before completing ten years of age, she was already working as an illustrator for her step brother- Masamune, who was working on a novel. Before a year of the beginning of the novel events, she meets Masamune. Despite sharing the same name, she is not able to recognize that she is the writer for whom Sagiri is working. The simple and naïve Sagiri completely gives up on drawing sketches and working on illustrations when her mother dies, as sketching was very closely associated with her mother.
However, she comes across the live video of a random stranger who was also displaying his sketching skills. Taking inspiration from the live video, she also decides to adopt the idea and began to use the camera for her illustrations to put into live video. Though she was still not ready to introduce her identity and voice and hence, disguises herself and her voice. Though she starts to come out of her shell, and slowly began to interact with people online who saw her video. Meanwhile, Masamune remains busy, as Sagiri is cold to him and doesn’t interact much with her.
This is a story of a 15-year-old young girl, who is trying to recuperate from her mother’s loss, at the same time reviving her passion for sketching novel illustrations.
2. Eru Chitanda
Eru Chitanda is a sweet, and intelligent girl, who very easily sorts out all the mysteries. She belongs to a wealthy family and is a single daughter child. She is a teenager and is currently studying at Kamiyama High School. She joins the Classics Clubs and soon ascends to the post of President. The club consists of Houtarou, the guy Eru feels attracted to, Houtarou’s friend Satoshi Fukube, and Eru herself.
She has a curious nature, very much like a child. Eru is all time curious and wants to solve more mysteries and cases, whereas Hautarou is saving his energy all the time. However, the duo solves a few cases together, and eventually become closer to each other. She gets distracted easily.
The story goes around and about the cases which a Happy girl Eru solves with her companions and the feelings which she develops for Hautarou.
3. Yuuki Asana
Yuuki Asaka has grown up in a loving and cozy household with her mother, father, and brother. She has received education in an all-girls school and later she enrolls in SAO, where she gets trapped with other players.
Yuuki Asana is depicted as a kind-hearted girl, who is passionate about Kirito. For her Kirito is like a lifeline. She is young and extremely pretty. She was initially shown as a reckless player, who wouldn’t care about dying in the game, but a meeting with Kirito changed everything. As the plot advances, we see her character developing into a responsible and serious player.
She is a huge fan of cooking. Kind and soft as she has been shown, she is not hesitant. Whenever someone tried to make fun of or mock her she didn’t think twice to teach him a lesson through a punch or two. Yuuki likes to take her own decision and is fearless, as we see that despite following Kiriti everywhere, she challenges him for a duel.
Despite being physically strong and fearless, she is subjected to her emotions. For her loved ones, she is ready to all risks on her. This appeared in the forefront when in a duel she took the attack of Kirito which was deadly.
Overall, Asuna is a dear friend of Kirito and an excellent female player in SAO. She is the sub-leader of the guild Knights of the Blood. koB is a guild consisting of 30 members. It is small and Asuna maintains it finely. Her specialty is her sword which has lightning.
4. Elucia de Lute Ima
Elucia or Elsie is a character who adds life to her surroundings through her joyful nature. She is shown as a highly positive character, who easily finds hope in most terrible situations. She cannot be judged by her age. She is over 300 years old, but her behavior is juvenile and her playfulness cast a childlike impression. She loves to work hard and is passionate about her work, but lacks skills in handling virtual devices. She often gets scolded byKeima, because of constant mistakes, but she gets over the insults quickly. Though it does not apply that she learns from them. Instead, she repeats the same mistakes.
She keeps a caring attitude towards Keims, despite the number of times she has been scolded. She has a crazy obsession with fire trucks and is almost mad at the popular celebrity- Kanon. She maintains the fan girl aura and buys the same ribbon as Kanon’s. She is often seen complimenting her, calling her words like-“cute”. Elsie is rumored to be good at Japanese history, but truth be told she is still stuck on the basics, and her performance remains poor. Though she has amazing adaptation skills. She keeps making mistakes and manages to get herself through all tough situations.
5. Nezuko Kamado
Nezukowho lives with her brother- Tanjiro and shares an affectionate and adaptable nature. She prioritized others before herself. We see her throughout the anime how she prioritizes her younger siblings’ needs. She is equally fearless after becoming a human, as she was while being a demon. She also grows protective of her brother, who saved her from a demon slayer. Her character follows a progressive plot as she learns to control her thirst for human blood and flesh. As she transforms into a human, she loses part of her memory, especially of her family. She is seen maintaining an amicable relationship with all the humans around her.
She developed strong resistance to her desire for human flesh and also becomes fearlessly strong. She puts her hundred percent to lead a normal human life. When her brother becomes a demon, she remains with her without any fear of self-harm and helps him.
She also develops the ability to bear sunlight. She proceeds in her speaking skills also. Initially, she stutters, but slowly with time becomes fluent. In the end, she emerges as an extremely strong demon who gives a hundred percent to become a human.
6. Rem
Rem is a character who is extremely well-mannered and polite. Despite having smooth communication skills and manners, she lacks the task to do things properly. She often feels guilty and has developed an inferiority complex, because of her past incidents with her sisters. Although she respects her sister nowhere less, she is loyal to her defenders. She gets attached to Subaru when he helped her by saving her, since then, she has been hundred percent loyal to him.
Rem belonged to Oni Village and was born and raised there with her family- father, mother, and elder sister. Rem is younger but still possesses huge strength. She protected herself and her sisters when they were about to be executed after being labeled as different from Oni Community. She was orphaned as a Witch cult attacked the village and burned it. She is constantly compared with her sister’s higher abilities, but she doesn’t mind and stays on good terms with her.
7. Uiharu Kazari
Uihara Kazari is a student at Sakugawa Middle School. She is a first-year student and batchmate with Saten Ruiko who is seen always teasing her by flipping her skirt. She is shy and introverted but amiable in nature. She has kept herself in self-restriction and hence doesn’t hang out freely like her friend- Saten Ruiko. Without her “limits” she’s a free spirit. She is incumbent when it comes to her duty of acting as a member of Judgement. She uses her sense of justice wisely.
Besides this, she is an animal lover too. She is seen playing with a boa constrictor who was the pet of one of her friends- Kongou Mitsuko. Her character has been given a strange habit of running nose. At the end of the anime, as well, the viewers can see that she managing her nose, which acts as a barrier to eating sweets. Another perk of Uihara is her well-mannered speech for everyone. Even when frustrated she always makes sure to use polite and respectful words towards others. She continues her passion for justice and joins Judgement 177 Branch Office in the end.
8. Chika Fujiwara
The main protagonist of the anime Love is War is Chika Fujiwara. An energetic and optimistic third-year student, she belongs to an extremely prestigious family. She has been raised in loving and overprotective parenting. She has a jolly nature and is always seen smiling.
She is notorious and curious. She is a member of the student council. Owing to her curious nature, she is always coming up with new and strange ideas, which more or less add humor to her personality. She is unpredictable and because of this trait, she has spoiled many moments of confession by Kaguya Shinomiya.
Despite all her juvenile activities, she is extremely talented and can speak five languages. Plus, she is proficient at playing the piano. Due to her childish nature, she tries to cheat in games, but is not skilled enough, and hence gets caught every time. Though she won’t confess her real feelings, she will go on giving relationship advice.
Overall, she is a jolly character, who likes to be notorious and goof around.
9. Sango
Sango is one of the strongest female protagonists anime has presented us with. She is a demon slayer and possessesan extreme sense of responsibility and is courageous. Sango is filled with self-pride. She feels contends and pride in her identity. She is a tough figure and at all costs, avoids taking help from others. Through strict practice, she keeps on upgrading her skills. She fights violently and tracks all her enemies down. Not only incumbent, but she also has a firm hold on her feeling and doesn’t let them mess up her task. She doesn’t fear risking her life when it comes to fighting. She only sees her goal.
The only person who softens her heart is her younger brother- Kohaku. He is the opposite of her- not a fearless warrior. She shows all her support to him and shows up every time for him. She resisted manipulation from Naraku to kill her brother, as she loves him more than anything.
As one incident after another leads up, she grew up to be lonely and adapted to doing work alone. She loses all her friends, but not hopes. Though she meets are friends, and remains wholly loyal to them. Later we see that Sango develops a soft spot for her companion- Miroku. She agrees to settle down with Miroku and create a family with him. After a long struggle, she finally finds her people and love.
10. Teruhashi Kokomi
The anime Disastrous Life of Saiki K presented us with Kokomi as the protagonist- a clever girl, who knows how to use all the tricks to get her work done. Being the most popular girl in her school, she is smart, an excellent communicator, and above all a confident figure.
We have seen her using her beauty as a medium to manipulate people into listening to her. She uses her flirting skills to save herself from all tough situations. She has enjoyed compliments for her beauty all her life. Hence, when she notices that Saiki Kusuo is not influenced by her, she gets surprised. It becomes her new goal to pursue him to like her. She clearly is competitive and likes to remain at the top. Despite her competitive nature, she makes sure to not hurt anyone.
She maintains her composure in public. Kokomi knows how to channel her anger and disappointment in public. Though her character sees progressive growth. As she grows, she stops being so judgemental and greedy. She refuses to marry into a rich family and began appreciating people for their natural looks. Around Kusuo, she lets her walls down and behaves naturally, and doesn’t bother to maintain her “perfect” identity.
She is seen putting effort at the end of the series, like memorizing all her classmates’ names and being nice to people around her. Kusuo respects her efforts and her will to change into a better person. The character of Kokomi sees development throughout the series, from being an attention seeker in the beginning to being a kind person.
11. Menma
The anime Anohama: The Flower We Saw That Day introduced to us one of the sweetest protagonists of anime- Menma. Menma is represented as an extremely sweet character who is always making sure to look after the people around her. Being sweet and simple, she prioritizes others before her and acts as a reliable helping hand. She is extra caring for JintaYadomi, for whom she has a soft corner. She shared a healthy relationship with him as a child. The story tells us that she has been resurrected and when she was a child she met death. Hence, after the resurrection, she keeps being childish only. She feels lonely and sad, especially when she sees her family. It hurts her that she can’t be with them anymore. Though she has her friends to hang out with.
After her resurrection, only Jinta can communicate with her, through a notebook. At times, we have seen that Menma has a strong desire to communicate with her other friends and family members. We see glimpses of her childlike nature when she cries at the small inconveniences. Despite her childish nature, she is extremely selfless and optimistic. Throughout the series, we see that she makes sure nobody is hurt because of her. Overall, she is a cheerful girl, and sometimes Jinta thinks that she is only in her head because of all the stress.
12. Kurisu Makise
In the anime Steins, we see the character of Kurisu Makise- a young, sensible woman, who knows how to deal with things perfectly. At tough times too, she never loses her composure. She handles things maturely and is always calm. If something she is not comfortable with is getting nicknamed. She gets irritated when called “The Zombie”. She is friends with Okabe and they often hang out together. She is practical and rational and refuses to believe that time machines exist. When she sees one working machine, even then it becomes hard for her to believe.
She is not serious all the time. Through her sarcasm, she handles Okabe and Daru- the partners she works with. She maintains friendly relations with everyone. Though she grows soft on Mayuri as she develops a liking for him. Her rule while dealing with people is simple. She believes that people should be treated the way they treat you.
She Is an excellent swimmer and uses swimming as an escape. Nothing can worry her when she is floating on the water’s surface. Overall she acts strong and rude to hide her insecurities. She performs exceptionally well at work, even better than her father. Okabe knows that she is a kind-hearted person, and hence is there for her. Kurisu also confesses her romantic feelings for him.
13. Neko
The anime K-Project introduced to us a 15-year-old girl, who has a carefree and fun-loving personality. She is often seen joking around with people, without giving enough attention, as to what impact her actions might be causing on them. She is irresponsible and takes no accountability for her actions, as she thinks she is only helping them out. In general, she is a confident and contented person, who is satisfied doing her job of helping others.
If she has a favourite person, that is Shiro. She loves him unconditionally, as he was the only one who didn’t turn his back on her. Not only does she love him, but she is also protective of him as well. Though all the time she lives in the insecurity that he would leave, or situations will turn out to be so. She protects him against Kuroh Yatogami. In general, she has a childish personality, and every time she is with Kuroh she can’t help blushing. Beneath her cheerful nature, there is a pool of insecurities. She is always trying to save her relationships as she has a huge fear of being abandoned.
14. Megumi Kato
Megumi Kato is one of those female characters who never got enough attention, or were never taken seriously. She is extremely simple, lacking any particular interests or hobbies. Her character is designed in a way that deprives her of all the attention. She doesn’t have a life like the other normal girls. Limited to her bubble, she doesn’t enjoy the simple school life. People often forget her presence, as she maintains a dull aura.
If one is to know her, she is a sweet girl, who wishes good for others. She is attracted to Tomoya- a classmate of hers. Like others, he is also ignorant about her presence. As he grows to learn about her, he discovers a wonderful friend in her. Megumi also makes sure to appear for help every time Tomoya needed her. Initially, she was seen as an expressionless person, but Tomoya discovers her other side as well. Her personality also came more to the forefront when she was made the leader of Blessing software.
Overall, Megumi develops from being emotionless, and ignorant to being an appreciable person.
15. Mei Misaki
The protagonist of the anime- Another, Mei Misaki is a student at Yomiyama North Middle School of Class 3-3. She has strong notions about being lonely. She argues that in the end, a person is lonely, it doesn’t matter how many friends he or she has. She often had such debates with Kouichi Sakakibara, with whom she eventually gets close, and becomes someone she trusts and feels safe. Her negative attitude is due to the fact that she lost her twin sister- Misaki and since then she has been gloomy. She has developed to be alone and despises all modes of communication, including cell phones.
Though she likes drawing, she admires looking at art. She has her share of insecurities as well. She is not confident about her prosthetic eye, but when she shows it to Kouichi, he finds it beautiful. With him, she maintains a transparent relationship. She has informed him about the curse, as well as Class 3-3’s past. She turns out to be a selfless person, so much so that she happily sacrificed herself to protect others from being a victim of the Curse. She doesn’t mind much when people go rude to her. Overall, she was a kind and selfless girl, who sacrificed herself to save others.
