    The Complete Trailer For The Cancelled ‘Duke Nukem’ Prequel Is Now Available On Youtube

    Duke Nukem Forever is certainly familiar to everyone who has followed gaming over the last two decades. Yes, Duke’s follow-up to the iconic Duke Nukem 3D underwent several years of development, two developers, and a variety of fan tolerance levels before being released to mixed reviews in 2011.

    So, why are we discussing it? During the course of this nightmare, Gearbox was working on a prequel to Duke Nukem 3D called Duke Nukem Begins. Due to legal concerns, the game was finally taken down, but not before a teaser promoting the prequel was released.

    The original Doom games and Rise of the Triad had an expert modeller who was also the director for Duke Nukem Begins, Gregor Punchatz. He had previously released bits and sections of the video in 2019, but has now uploaded the entire thing to his YouTube account.

    Back in 2008, when he was working for Janimation in Dallas, Texas, he said that they were recruited by Gearbox to produce a vertical slice, which is an animated representation of what the game will look like, for the game Duke Nukem Begins,a Duke origin story. He said that everyone who worked on it with him deserves to see it released into the wild. He hopes that this helps to bring this version of the game back to life by demonstrating how wonderful it could have been if it were completed and released.

    The question of whether we’ll see everyone’s favourite alien-stomping one-liner machine again is still up in the air, given the reception to DNF and Duke’s hiatus, apart from a few cameo appearances. In his Duke 3D retrospective, Neil mentioned how the period of action films that Duke mocked had passed him by, leaving Duke feeling out of place.
