Get Ready For A Wrong Turn Reboot

Horror slasher film ‘Wrong Turn,’ directed by Rob Schmidt and starring Eliza Dushku, was released more than fifteen years ago. Since then, it has had up to six sequels and given fans more cannibalistic gore than any other film. Director Schmidt and Dushku have also worked on ‘The Alphabet Killer’ (2008). This January, Constantin Film that also worked on the first ‘Wrong Turn,’ is hitting the theatres with a reboot of the same for one day only. This 2021 film stars Emma Dumont, Charlotte Vega, Damien Maffei, and more talented faces.

The trailer gives us goosebumps without giving away much of the story

An exclusive trailer has been released to give fans a sneak peek into what they can expect. The two-minute clip begins with a bunch of hikers happily straying off the course of their trek and getting to enjoy some beautiful scenery in the forest. Things go sideways fast as they realize they are not alone and someone, or something, lurks in the shadows. A voiceover can be heard over the ominous music that talks about the unsaid rule of “we don’t bother them, and they don’t bother us.” These people are not clear, but we hear Mathew Modine’s character talking about the descendants of “these people” still living in the mountains.

    Trailer analysis and theories

Not a lot of bloodshed is explicitly seen in the trailer, but it definitely can be expected in the film, as is evident from the various brutal traps we see the characters falling prey to. With a sinister background score and the look of pure terror on the faces of the hikers, the film can be a fun watch, especially since it is being remade with the current standards of cinema in mind. The poster features “this land is their land”, which looks more like a warning than anything else and when read with something heard in the trailer about how “they would be the foundation on which a new nation would be built”, one can assume it is a direct jab at the famous patriotic song by Woody Guthrie ‘This Land is Your Land’.
