Honk for Jesus, a comedy starring Regina Hall and Sterling K. Brown. Focus Features, Peacock, and Monkeypaw Productions are planning to distribute Save Your Soul over the Labor Day holiday weekend on Peacock and in cinemas.
The movie, which is being released concurrently, stars Hall as Trinitie Childs, the head of a Southern Baptist megachurch, who is attempting to deal with the fallout from a controversy involving her husband, Pastor Lee-Curtis Childs (Brown).
In order to make the largest comeback that commodified religion has ever seen, Trinitie and Lee-Curtis must rebuild their congregation after being briefly forced to close, and they must reconcile their faith.
For Jesus, honk. At Sundance, Save Your Soul bowed. Expanding on a 2018 short of the same name, writer-director-producers Adamma Ebo and producer AdanneEbo combine mockumentary and traditional narrative elements to satirise the prosperity gospel, similar to the Bakkers, but from a particularly Southern Black perspective.
The project is the Ebo siblings’ first feature film collaboration with Pinky Promise. Kaluuya, Amandla Crichlow, Adamma Ebo, AdanneEbo, Jessamine Burgum, Matthew Cooper, Rowan Riley, Kara Durrett, Hall, and Brown are the producers of the comedy. Jordan Peele of Monkeypaw executive produced.

Adapted from their identically titled short film from 2018. Save Your Soul” follows pastor Lee-Curtis Childs (Brown) and his first lady Trinitie (Hall) as they work to reassemble their flock following the closure of their Atlanta megachurch, which had a capacity of up to 26,000 worshipers, due to a scandal. The couple hires a documentary camera to follow their comeback, but it isn’t always easy to find salvation, particularly in the cutthroat world of corporatized and commercialized Christianity. In the spoof, Nicole Beharie and Conphidance also play rival church leaders chasing after the Childs.
