Honk for Jesus, a comedy starring Regina Hall and Sterling K. Brown. Focus Features, Peacock, and Monkeypaw Productions are planning to distribute Save Your Soul over the Labor Day holiday weekend on Peacock and in cinemas.

The movie, which is being released concurrently, stars Hall as Trinitie Childs, the head of a Southern Baptist megachurch, who is attempting to deal with the fallout from a controversy involving her husband, Pastor Lee-Curtis Childs (Brown).

In order to make the largest comeback that commodified religion has ever seen, Trinitie and Lee-Curtis must rebuild their congregation after being briefly forced to close, and they must reconcile their faith.

For Jesus, honk. At Sundance, Save Your Soul bowed. Expanding on a 2018 short of the same name, writer-director-producers Adamma Ebo and producer AdanneEbo combine mockumentary and traditional narrative elements to satirise the prosperity gospel, similar to the Bakkers, but from a particularly Southern Black perspective.

The project is the Ebo siblings’ first feature film collaboration with Pinky Promise. Kaluuya, Amandla Crichlow, Adamma Ebo, AdanneEbo, Jessamine Burgum, Matthew Cooper, Rowan Riley, Kara Durrett, Hall, and Brown are the producers of the comedy. Jordan Peele of Monkeypaw executive produced.

“Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul” has finally found a buyer, so put the collecting plate away. The megachurch satire starring Regina Hall and Sterling K. Brown has been acquired by Focus Features, Peacock, and Jordan Peele’s MonkeyPaw Productions. A reported $8.5 million was exchanged in the sale.

Later this year, the film, which had a successful premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, will be released in theatres and on Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming service.

“Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul” states the feature film debut of writer-director Adamma Ebo and producer AdanneEbo, collectively known as the Ebo twins.

In a statement, they added, “We’re so amazingly blessed and delighted to be partners with Focus and Monkeypaw on our first feature film.” “We can’t wait to deliver it to the public with this team because of their great devotion to our vision as filmmakers and to the film as a whole.”

Adapted from their identically titled short film from 2018. Save Your Soul” follows pastor Lee-Curtis Childs (Brown) and his first lady Trinitie (Hall) as they work to reassemble their flock following the closure of their Atlanta megachurch, which had a capacity of up to 26,000 worshipers, due to a scandal. The couple hires a documentary camera to follow their comeback, but it isn’t always easy to find salvation, particularly in the cutthroat world of corporatized and commercialized Christianity. In the spoof, Nicole Beharie and Conphidance also play rival church leaders chasing after the Childs.

“The real, humorous, and scorching experience is delivered by Adamma and Adanne’s new, distinctive voices. The film deserves all the praise Sundance audiences awarded it for its vision and the skills of Regina and Sterling, according to Focus Features chairman Peter Kujawski. “I am overjoyed that Peacock and Monkeypaw would allow us to release the movie to a global audience.”

The movie will be available on Peacock the same day that it opens in theatres, though a precise release date has not yet been set.

In order to bring “Honk for Jesus,” we are thrilled to collaborate with Focus Pictures and Monkeypaw. According to Val Boreland, executive VP of content acquisition for NBCUniversal entertainment, television, and streaming, “Save Your Soul” will be made available to Peacock consumers on the same day as its theatrical debut. The Ebo twins’ feature film debut, which has already got Sundance audiences buzzing, is likely to please viewers everywhere with its compelling blend of irreverent humour and drama. We continue to extend the Peacock repertoire with new stories from emerging creators like them.

The Oscar-winning “Get Out” director Jordan Peele has joined the movie as an executive producer via his business MonkeyPaw Productions after its Sundance sale.

According to Win Rosenfeld, president of Monkeypaw, “Working with rising filmmakers who are delivering new and disruptive tales in playful new ways is vital to Monkeypaw’s goal. The talented Adamma and AdanneEbo’s decision to collaborate with us on the publication of their humorous song “Honk for Jesus” has made us feel really privileged. Protect Your Soul. They are master satirists who have discovered heart and humour in their ferocious and thought-provoking criticism of hypocrisy.

Through their business, Ejime Productions, the Ebo sisters also produced the movie. 59 percent Productions’ Daniel Kaluuya and Amandla Crichlow, Pinky Promise’s Jessamine Burgum, Matthew Cooper, Rowan Riley, Kara Durrett, Hall via her production company RH Negative Entertainment, and Brown via his company Indian Meadows are among the additional producers. Executive producers included Will Greenfield, Carolina Groppa, and Lucy Keith.

“I am happy to collaborate alongside Adamma and AdanneEbo and see that their artistic vision has been achieved,” Pinky Promise founder and CEO Burgum continued. The best collaboration I could have ever envisioned is made possible by Focus Features and Monkeypaw Productions’ amazing storytelling talent and their understanding of “Honk for Jesus'” subtleties. I can’t wait for fans to see Regina Hall and Sterling K. Brown’s amazing performances; I get excited just thinking about it!”

The Ebo sisters are now working on “Honk for Jesus” and the CW’s “The Girls on the Bus” in addition to Donald Glover’s upcoming “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” series at Amazon.

UTA Independent Film Group, CAA Media Finance, and ICM Partners negotiated the terms of the movie contract. The Ebo Twins and Pinky Promise are represented by UTA, while CAA and Jared Levine are in charge of Monkeypaw.
