Mel Gibson is resuming his role as a hero in Hot Seat, a thriller based on a real life story in which he will appear and which will begin production on November 1 in New Mexico. North American distribution will be handled by Grindstone Entertainment, a Lionsgate company, while overseas sales will be handled by Highland Film Group. James Cullen Bressack will direct the movie. He recently finished directing Fortress, a film starring Murray and Bruce Willis that is currently in post-production.
Along with Randall Emmett and George Furla, Bressack is producing the film. The script was written by Leon Langford and Collin Watts. Gary Raskin and Alastair Burlingham will work as executive producers on the film, which they will also co-finance. Emmett and Furla’s long-term arrangement with Lionsgate allows them to release the film.

The movie is based on a story by Leon Langford and Collin Watts. An unknown guy forces an ex-hacker to breach into high-level banking institutions in Hot Seat by planting a bomb beneath his chair at his office. Gibson plays the guy tasked with breaking into the booby-trapped building and rescuing the young man from his predicament.
Emmett has been turning to directing since his debut in Midnight in the Switchgrass, and he is now in post-production on Wash Me in the River, starring Robert De Niro, John Malkovich, and Jack Huston. Emmett and Furla produced The Irishman, Silence, and Lone Survivor, among other films.
