James Gunn is interested in putting Marvel and DC together in a crossover film, and he’s approached both corporations about the idea. In a recent interview with Jake Hamilton for Jake’s Takes, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad addressed the potential crossover, and the footage has been released to YouTube. Initially, James Gunn stated that he would be delighted to direct a film starring Harley Quinn and Groot, potentially bringing two of the most famous characters from the DCEU and MCU together. The filmmaker then went on to say that he’s presented a DC/Marvel crossover to both businesses before, and that both are open to the notion.

He stated that he has discussed it with the heads of both Marvel and DC, but that everyone is open to anything, and that whether or not anything will happen is still up in the air. However, bringing Marvel and DC together in a film would be a dream come true for him.
To be clear, Gunn did not pitch a Harley Quinn/Groot crossover to DC directly, but he did confess in a later tweet that he may have discussed it “in passing” to Kevin Feige. Even yet, it appears that his discussions with both sides regarding a general crossing have gone smoothly, and the largest obstacle will be figuring out the legal issues.
He knows it’s intriguing for the heads of Marvel and DC, Kevin Feige at Marvel and Toby Emmerich at Warner Bros., to think about. This is a concept that we all like to fantasise about. He doesn’t know if he could ever get past the onslaught, the Berlin Wall of lawyers that would be required to make something like that happen, but he believes it would be an amazing experience.
