New Horror Slasher ‘The Canyonlands’ To Hit Select Theatres Soon

Starring Stephanie Barkley (What Now, 2015) and Marqus Bobesich (Clown, 2019), ‘The Canyonlands’ is all set to hit the theatres this March. The film has been written, directed as well as produced by Brendan Devane’s Sadieland Productions. Devane’s aim with the film was to use an atmosphere that is not common to the horror genre and make fair use of it to frighten the audience. The story revolves around protagonist Lauren, a river guide in Utah, who takes five contest winners on an overnight trek to a remote terrain. Things soon go haywire as they realize they are not alone in the canyons, and Lauren must then use the visions that have been keeping her up at night to find a way out of a feud that is more than a hundred years old!

What we know from the trailer

The film’s trailer has already been released on the official YouTube page of Freestyle Digital Media. We see what starts as a fun-filled trip through nature go into a downward spiral when the group of contest winners begins to hear noises, screams and get confronted by what looks like a slasher on the loose. After talking to some native dwellers, Lauren realises that these are bloodthirsty spirits out to look for revenge.

How the film landed with Freestyle Digital Media

Caleb Ward, who is the Director of Acquisitions at Freestyle Digital Media, was the one that negotiated with Circus Road Films’ Glen Records to acquire ‘The Canyonlands’ on behalf of the filmmakers. Although the film will be releasing on the 5th of March, viewers who want to watch it will be able to do so soon after via a VOD and DVD release on the 9th of March. Other cast members include Larry Yazzie (No Blood of Mine, 2017) and Wayne Charles Baker (Pathfinder, 2007).
