Early Test Screening Results Are Positive For Texas Chainsaw Massacre Reboot

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre revival has seen early test screenings, according to producer FedeLvarez, and the results have been very good.

The slasher franchise began with the 1974 film of the same name, which followed a group of friends who find themselves in the crosshairs of the cannibalistic Sawyer family while visiting an old homestead. Though the original was purported to be based on a true incident, only minor storyline details and the famous character of Leatherface were alleged to be inspired by real-life serial killer Ed Gein.

While the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre received mixed reviews due to its graphic material, it was a box office success and created a franchise that comprises three sequels, a remake, and a prequel, as well as a prequel and direct sequel to the original picture.

Following the critical and commercial failure of the latter two films, Legendary Entertainment purchased the franchise’s rights and joined with lvarez to develop a ninth film that will serve as a direct sequel to the original. Filming on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was announced to be completed in March, despite numerous setbacks in the production, including the switch of directors after only a week on set.

It’s intriguing to see lvarez mention that the test results for Texas Chainsaw Massacre are not only “great,” but also on par with Don’t Breathe 2. The horror sequel’s early trailer reviews have pointed to it being a solid sequel. Given lvarez’s opinion that Don’t Breathe 2 shines brighter than its critically praised predecessor, excitement for the new picture should skyrocket.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre revival, on the other hand, should elicit even more excitement. Many are hoping that, with its direct sequel story, it will be able to follow in the footsteps of David Gordon Green’s Halloween sequel trilogy and signal a positive move forward for the brand. Only when the Texas Chainsaw Massacre purportedly arrives later this year, will we be able to tell but it is something we are definitely looking forward to!
