    New Netflix Offering, Hellbound Is Being Directed By Yeon Sang-Ho

    Yeon Sang-ho, the Korean director behind Train to Busan and its sequel Peninsula, is directing Netflix’s “Hellbound,” which taps into the world’s collective dread with his highly innovative take on the procedural drama which is going to premiere on Netflix soon.

    A debut trailer for the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival has emerged from Hell, showing the series’ opening scenes, in which three demonic creatures burst through a coffee shop window, tying a guy down and laying him in flames. It is positively terrifying and has kept us wanting more because now we’re intrigued.

    Hellbound is based on the Korean webtoon “Hell,” and it depicts the story of surviving social upheaval when a group of supernatural entities appears and condemns people to hell. They are interpreted as the divine intent by a new religious movement.

    The initial press release noted about the series thatthe environment that develops through this circumstance of monsters appearing makes for an emotional and highly charged story of people who must survive in surroundings of absolute social anarchy.

    Late in July, Yoo Ah-in, Park Jung-min, Kim Hyun-joo, Won Jin-ah, Yang Ik-jun, Kim Shin-rok, Ryu Kyung-soo, and Lee Re have all been confirmed to appear in the series in a variety of roles. The director and cast of Hellbound debuted the TV series in a Netflix content roadshow on February 25, 2021.

    In September, the series will have its international premiere in the Primetime programme of the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival, making it the first Korean drama to make it to the festival. It will also be screened at the newly constructed On Screen section of the 26th Busan International Film Festival in October.

    The premise of monsters dragging people to hell is positively terrifying. The Korean webtoon can be viewed if you want to see the original work as well.
