Trollhunters: Rise Of The Titans – New Trailer Dives Into The Animated World

The first complete trailer for Trollhunters: Rise Of The Titans, which Guillermo del Toro executive produced and co-wrote, is now out! The Netflix/DreamWorks Animation film will be released on the service on July 21, as del Toro previously stated.

The trailer was released when del Toro, executive producer Chad Hammes, and filmmakers Andrew L Schmidt, Francisco Ruiz Velasco, and Johane Matte sat down for a discussion at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, where del Toro recounted initially presenting the Trollhunters franchise in 2016.

The film is based in the universe del Toro established in his Emmy-winning Tales Of Arcadia trilogy. Arcadia may appear to be an average village in the animated fantasy adventure, but it stands at the crossroads of magical and mystical lines, making it a hotspot for confrontations between otherworldly creatures such as trolls, aliens, and wizards. Now, the heroes of the Trollhunters series must fight the Arcane Order for control of the magic that ties them all in their most epic adventure yet.

The project was previously conceived by Del Toro as a live-action series set in the 1980s. “We don’t do TV,” then-DWA chief Jeffrey Katzenberg responded to del Toro. “We started to attempt to pack it all into a feature,” del Toro revealed. It was unthinkable.” “Then, one fateful morning, Jeffrey invited me for breakfast, and as he was paying for breakfast, he said, ‘Don’t kill me, but what do you think about making it into a TV series?’ “That’s the best news we’ve ever had,” I said.
