Where Can I Watch Nightmare Alley (2021)?

Nightmare Alley is the latest film from Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro, with the backing of Searchlight Pictures. The movie is a remake of a 1947 movie of the same name starring Tyron Power and Joan Blondell.

It is certainly not one of the most recognizable film noirs, but it’s little surprise that a film historian like del Toro has such a passion for it that he is remaking it. The story tracks the rise and fall of Stanton Carlisle, a mentalist who starts his career as a carny before moving on to bigger things, only to have it all come crumbling down.

Nightmare Alley follows Stan Carlisle (played by Bradley Cooper), a carnival worker who possesses a talent for manipulating people with a few well-chosen words. Eventually, he hooks up with a female psychiatrist Dr. Lilith Ritter, who is even more dangerous than he is.

When charismatic but down-on-his-luck Stanton endears himself to clairvoyant Zeena (Toni Collette) and her has-been mentalist husband Pete (David Strathairn) at a traveling carnival, he crafts a golden ticket to success, using this newly acquired knowledge to grift the wealthy elite of 1940s New York society.

With the virtuous Molly (Rooney Mara) loyally by his side, Stanton plots to con a dangerous tycoon (Richard Jenkins) with the aid of a mysterious psychiatrist (Cate Blanchett) who might be his most formidable opponent yet.

Guillermo del Toro’s new movie looks suitably creepy. The trailer showcases the result of some of those games, with twists, turns and blood to come from Carlisle’s story.
