The Hand of God is a 2021 Italian drama film of Academy Award-winning writer and director Paolo Sorrentino (Il Divo, The Great Beauty, The Young Pope). The Hand of God, no surprise, is Sorrentino’s most nakedly personal film narrating the story of fate and family, sports and cinema, love and loss to date and which scales back with an autobiographical coming-of-age story that allows him to reach new heights.
It’s Naples in the late 80s, Sorrentino casts handsome Filippo Scotti as his alter ego Fabietto and has regular collaborator Toni Servillo masquerade as his dad.
