Where To Watch “Woke: Season 2 (2022)”?

Woke, a sitcom starring Lamorne Morris (New Girl, Bloodshot) and based in part on the personal experiences of cartoonist Keith “Keef” Knight, spent its first season investigating racial unfairness — particularly police racial profiling — through the perspective of a comic writer. And it was evident that there was more narrative to tell after eight episodes of witnessing Keef (Morris) analyze his own oppression, the battle to find a new path for his art, and doubt his own sanity while common inanimate items became animated and spoke to him.

By the end of the first season, Keef had faced up against Officer Wyatt (Link Baker), the cop who had forced him to the ground without reason and had taken a stance rather than acquiescing to the police’s wish for reconciliation. While there is catharsis at that moment, the big question of how Keef will move forward with his career and life remains unanswered.

Thankfully, Hulu revealed in November 2020 that a second season with eight additional episodes was on the way. More talking inanimate objects, more scenes of Keef fighting people dressed as animals (maybe), and more tragic moments of an artist merely attempting to craft work that entertains while also speaking a little truth to power are all possibilities.

In the last episode of Woke season 1, Keef confronts the cop who racially profiled him at the start of the season, and finds himself in jail as a result. When he is released on bail, however, he realizes that his refusal to accept a half-hearted, non-apology from the cops has sparked a protest.

We can’t be positive, but Keef becoming a voice for his community and what he does with that voice appears to be a part of season 2’s tale. We’ll probably see more of Adrienne and Keef’s relationship now that we know he apologized for mistreating her. COVID-19 is something more we might hear about. In a panel for New York Comic Con 2020, Keith Knight pointed out that the show didn’t touch the epidemic because it was finished before it took over so much of our daily lives.
