The Possessed, directed by Australian filmmaker Chris Sun who is best known for the film Boar, is set to hit Australian theatres in November 2021, and is said to be inspired by true events which makes it even more terrifying.
The cast of this demonic possession story is led by John Jarratt, who previously starred in Wolf Creek. Also starring are Angie Kent, Lauren Grimson, and Jade Kevin Foster.
THE POSSESSED is a suspenseful horror film that follows Jacob Chandler played by John Jarratt, who is a regular guy with a special talent. Jacob is an unintentional exorcist, and he and his nephew Liam played by Lincoln Lewis have made a living by exorcising demons from their clients’ bodies.

Something has changed recently, and demonic possessions are on the rise, and Jacob must struggle to keep those he loves safe from the fury of an unfathomable evil.
When Liam meets Atalie Carlisle who played by Lauren Grimson, his new girlfriend, he notices something in her dark, shattered look that tells him she, too, can see the damned. Jacob had not anticipated meeting anyone else who looked like him, nor did he expect to require her assistance.
When Jacob is drawn to a hauntingly beautiful homestead with a tragic past, he must draw on all of his knowledge and Atalie’s untrained abilities to unravel the layers of demonic trickery at work. Death has arrived, and it will go to any length to be set free.
Nexus Films will distribute The Possessed theatrically in Australia in November 2021. The trailer is out now so you should definitely check it out if the film piques your interest. The first look images are sufficiently terrifying and have left us wanting more.
