Where Can I Watch Firebite: Season 1 (2021)?

Firebite, an original Aussie series still in production: written and directed by one of Australia’s most celebrated First Nations auteur voices, Warwick Thornton and Brendan Fletcher. It’s a joint venture between AMC Studios and See-Saw Films.

Firebite is billed as a high-octane series that takes the vampire genre into new uncharted territory as it follows two Indigenous Australian hunters, Tyson and Shanika on their quest to battle the last colony of the vampires who are attempting to eliminate a blood-sucking threat in the middle of the South Australian desert.

It sounds like they’ll be on their own for much of the mission, which makes it seem likely that Stone and Mulvey will be portraying some of the vampiric antagonists. Series starring Yael Stone (Orange is the New Black), Rob Collins (Cleverman, Extraction), Callan Mulvey (Avengers: End Game) and First Nations star Shantae Barnes-Cowan in a new spin on the vampire genre.

The eight-part series is filmed on the traditional Country of the Antakirinja Matu-Yankunytjatjara people of the Western Desert and Kaurna People of the Adelaide Plains in and around Adelaide, the regional town of Coober Pedy and at the Adelaide Studios in South Australia. In any case, it seems like it’s no accident that the vampires found themselves in this remote corner of the world.

Apparently, the colony was “shipped from Britain to Australia in 1788 by the colonial superpower to eradicate the indigenous populations,” which means Tyson and Shanika’s mission might be personal, or even cultural-historical. The series would take place not just in the desert but in a remote mining town set in the middle of the desert, a setting that provides vampires with plenty of underground space in which to hide out from the sunlight.

Tyson and Shanika stand vanguard to the war. But what hope does an expertly reckless man full of bravado and a 17-year-old orphan possibly have to defeat these vicious blood-thirsty parasites, when legions of warriors before them have failed?
