Sharing a picture of Dave Bautista, who famously played the role of Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy, Empire Magazine has announced that a new zombie film directed by Zack Snyder is soon to come to Netflix. While it is easy to overlook everything else with Zack Snyder’s Justice League just around the corner, the director has also been working on another film titled Army of the Dead. Previously Snyder has worked on some of the most memorable films such as Watchmen, Batman v Superman, 300, Dawn of the Dead, Sucker Punch and many more.
What Bautista and Snyder had to say about the film
Bautista is excited for this new zombie-slaying role of his as he reveals that he has been wanting to get involved with the genre for quite some time now. He even admitted that he offered to play the role of a zombie on The Walking Dead series for free, but never got the chance because his built does not suit that of a zombie. He is happy to have gotten a role in this new film because he believes that it is a very special project with many layers setting it apart. Director Snyder has stated that although there can be a 100% zombie mayhem expected from the film, it will also give depth to its characters, explore real emotions and involve a heist!

A star-studded diverse cast
Army of Dead is set in Las Vegas and tells the story of a bunch of mercenaries trying to pull off the ultimate heist by breaking and entering a zombie quarantine zone. The film stars, alongside Bautista, Ella Purnell (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, 2016), Omari Hardwick (Spell, 2020), Ana De La Reguera (Nacho Libre, 2006), Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy, 2008), Matthias Schweighöfer (100 Things, 2018), Nora Arnezeder (Angélique, 2013) and Huma Qureshi (Ek Thi Daayan, 2013).
