Elite: Short Stories, (a series of three holiday-themed short stories), is the second instalment of the miniseries ‘spin-off’ that explores in short episodes events that the characters have experienced between the different instalments and that, otherwise, we would not have been able to know.
The series is set in Las Encinas, a fictional elite secondary school and revolves around the relationships between three working-class teenage students enrolled at the school through a scholarship program and their wealthy classmates. Away from school, during the winter holidays, they celebrate Christmas.
As we see in the trailer, the characters of Elite who will star in his short stories are Patrick (Manu Ríos), Cayetana (Georgina Amorós), Phillipe (Pol Granch), Omar (Omar Ayuso) and Samu (Itzan Escamilla). Elite explores concepts and themes associated with teen dramas, but also features more progressive issues and other sides to its clichés. These include many diverse sexual themes.
We see Samuel who is threatened with eviction from his childhood home, attempts a big, romantic gesture at the airport in order to persuade Carla not to board her flight to London. Structurally, the series employs a flash-forward plot that involves a mystery element, with each season taking place in two timelines.
All of them are set after the events that took place in the fourth season of Elite and they precede the fifth instalment, which does not yet have a release date on the platform but is expected in 2022. Thus, all the episodes represent a small preview of what we will be seeing on our return to Las Encinas next year.
