American sitcoms have ruled television for the majority of the last three to four decades, and one such show, titled The Golden Girls, ran for seven of these years from 1985 to 1992. This NBC show spanned for seven full seasons and centred around four older women living in Miami. Created by Susan Harris and produced by Touchstone Television, this show received critical acclaim while running and even after.
Details regarding the sitcom’s arrival
As streaming platforms are gaining traction, sitcoms are high in demand by each of them. With Netflix bagging Brooklynn 99 and Amazon Prime bagging The Office, it seems like Disney+ is now jumping on the bandwagon as it recently acquired the rights to Golden Girls, which will be available to stream starting this summer. Although Hulu (also owned by Disney) already streams this show, Disney+ has far more subscribers and will cater to a bigger audience.
