It’s true, Critters, and novices to the Critical Role universe, The Legend of Vox Machina, the much-anticipated animated series, is coming sooner than expected. Finally, Amazon Prime Video’s YouTube channel posted a new clip from the upcoming episode.
The fantasy series based on Critical Role’s first Dungeons & Dragons game — the group of professional voice actors is now on their third – was set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on February 4th. However, the firm announced today on Kickstarter that The Legend of Vox Machina will premiere a week earlier than planned.
Fans have come to recognize the exploring group Vox Machina for its numerous hilarious moments, as evidenced by the clip published today. The brief film shows the group attempting to fight a formidable foe: a locked door, by combining their talents and special skills. First, the gnome bard Scanlan Shorthalt (Sam Riegel) attempts to magically unlock the door by singing one of his innuendo-filled songs.
The miraculous song has no effect. A half-elven druid named Keyleth (Marisha Ray) recommends and tries to use a spell to break the lock. That is still ineffective. Pike Trickfoot (Ashley Johnson), a gnome cleric, uses her ability to sense magic, although it appears the lock is not arcane. Vex’ahlia (Laura Bailey), a half-elven ranger, shouts angrily, “It’s just a dang door!”
Only one Vox Machina member appears to be capable of unlocking a closed door. Vax’ildan (Liam O’Brien), a half-elf rogue, steals a toothpick from goliath barbarian Grog Strongjaw’s (Travis Willingham) sandwich and uses it to pick the door’s appearance without asking permission. He manages to complete it without any problem.
Taliesin Jaffe, who voices gunslinger Percy de Rolo, and Matthew Mercer, the Dungeon Master, and designer of the realm of Exandria, are two additional members of Critical Role who are also providing their voices to their respective characters in the series. The voice cast also includes Brandon Auman, Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, and Ben Kalina.
Critical Role has been working on the creation of the second season of The Legend of Vox Machina as well as Campaign 3 of their weekly streaming show towards the end of this year. Campaign 3 premiered on October 21 and presently has seven episodes available on YouTube.
