The Moon is perhaps the last thing you need or want to be terrified of among the many threats to Earth from space, but you will now. While individuals continue to design a future human colony on our satellite, Moonfall will make you question whether or not what you think you know about the Moon is true. No, we’re not talking about conspiracy theories surrounding the Moon landing.
The next sci-fi action film investigates the possibility of Earth being destroyed by the Moon. It follows a NASA executive, a former astronaut, and a conspiracy theorist as they abandon their lives and embark on a mission to save Earth’s satellite from colliding with the planet.
The action-thriller is directed by Roland Emmerich, who is known for films such as Independence Day and Independence Day: Resurgence, 2012, and The Day After Tomorrow, among other science-fiction themes. If you’ve seen Emmerich’s previous films, you’ll know that he’s known for his explosions, devastation, and apocalyptic occurrences. As a result, Moonfall is likely to follow suit, if not raise the bar even higher.
Along with Harald Kloser and Spenser Cohen, Emmerich is a co-writer on the project. Kloser is well recognized for his work on the films 2012 and 10,000 B.C. Moonfall is produced by Kloser and Emmerich as well. Based on the title and plot summary, Moonfall appears to be a classic space apocalyptic film. But rest assured, there’s more to this film and its story than the Moon slipping out of its orbit.
Halle Berry (X-Men, Monster’s Ball), Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring), John Bradley (Game of Thrones), and Michael Pea (Ant-Man, American Hustle) star in the ensemble cast of the film. Donald Sutherland (The Hunger Games), Charlie Plummer (All the Money in the World), Eme Ikwuakor (Extant), Kelly Yu (The Ex-File 3: Return of the Exes), Carolina Bartczak (X-Men: Apocalypse), Maxim Roy (Shadowhunters), Stephen Bogaert (American Psycho), and Azriel Dalman are among the ensemble cast members.
