Those who grew up loving the horror genre have come across the famous horror fiction novels Goosebumps by R L Stine. Written as pieces of horror for children, these stories were no child’s play. Many of us revere this and likes of Courage the Cowardly Dog and Scooby-Doo as our initiation into the world of horror as children. With almost all stories revolving around children that find themselves in troublesome situations related to the supernatural, Goosebumps has been the world’s best-selling book, second only to Harry Potter by J K Rowling.
Still in early stages of development
Recently, Stine has announced via his official Twitter handle that a new TV series adaptation of his books is underway and that a producer and director have already been decided upon. Although who they are is not yet known, we are aware of the fact that Scholastic is working on the TV series in collaboration with Sony Pictures TV and Neal H Moritz. They previously worked on Goosebumps and Goosebumps II films. He stated that he is excited to bring this live-action to fans after having worked on these two films. Scholastic, too, is looking forward to this project.

The legacy of Goosebumps
Goosebumps was adapted into a TV series once before, back in 1995 that ran for four seasons and showcased some of Stine’s most famous stories such as Welcome to Dead House, Cuckoo Clock of Doom and The Haunted Mask. It has also been adapted to films and comics and has its line of merchandise. The Goosebumps books remain dear to everyone who was an avid fan and spent energy and money getting their hands on each of the books published.
