1990’s neo-noir horror The First Power was written and directed by Robert Resnikoff. Although a financial success, the film was not well received. The film tells the story of detective Logan, who hunts down the Pentagram Killer that had been spreading terror across Los Angeles, killing people to sacrifice them to Satan, realises that he has made a grave mistake having the killer executed. Along with the people of LA, he finds out all too late that the killer was possessed by the Devil himself and receives what is called The First Power, or the power of resurrection.
Why Lou thinks the film should make a comeback
During a recent conversation with Young Guns III, actor Lou Diamond Phillips who played the lead role of Russell Logan in The First Power stated that he had spent quite some time thinking back to the days of the 1990 film. He also said that if a sequel of the same were to happen, he would love to be a part of it and reprise Logan’s role more than thirty years since the film’s first released. Praising works of Jordan Peele and Blumhouse, Phillips claimed that he believes his best work in horror has not yet occurred and that he may reach full potential if they revamp the scare-factor in a new sequel of The First Power.
