Billy Kincaid – World’s Most Hated Villain In The Comic Book History – Spawn Universe Explored

“You scream. I scream. We all scream for ice cream.”  — It is a given that if a villain’s favorite song is this one, his character will be extremely well-known. For anyone unfamiliar with Billy Kincaid, this supervillain may easily be classified as one of Spawn’s most repulsive and despicable foes.

Billy Kincaid, a fictitious character who originally appeared in the fifth issue of the comic book in the year 1992 as a pedophile and a twisted serial killer, has since been a frequent enemy in Spawn’s battles. He is a nasty individual who is horribly obese and a horrible human being who enjoys enticing his child victims into his ice cream truck.

In today’s video, we will discuss Billy Kincaid’s origins, the world’s worst villain in comic book history, and someone that everyone wants to see punished. You had better be prepared!

Honestly speaking, not much is known about the backstory of Billy Kincaid but he is stated to have become a child killer mainly because of his father, senator Scott McMillan, being absent and not there for him for the major parts of his life. With the character of Billy getting introduced, we learn that he had been accused of the brutal murder of Amanda Jennings, the eight-year-old daughter of Senator Paul Jennings.

Initially meant to serve a time period of 22 years in the prison, it was Billy’s good demeanor, the service of powerful attorney Jeff Pittman behind his back, and a positive psychiatric assessment from the Windgate Institution in New York City that granted him an early release and made him a free man after serving the sentence for only six years.

Nonetheless, he is seen getting released and no points for guessing that he was back to his old hobby of referring to himself as the ice cream man and using the vehicle for kidnapping as well as killing children.

Now, we all know Spawn in his previous life has been a CIA assassin. In fact, he as Al Simmons was even given the task to assassinate Kincaid but was unable to kill him because the latter got arrested by the police before he could carry out his mission.

Therefore, when Spawn got to know of Kincade’s discharge and that upon release, he has resumed his old habit, it’s only fair that he gave Kincaid the much-awaited, fitting, horrifying death sentence. Spawn wanted to give Kincaid a dose of his own medicine therefore he ended up stabbing him with an ice cream scooper along with several popsicle sticks. Next, he hung the bloodstained corpse of Kincaid inside the very office of detectives Sam Burke and Twitch Williams. That’s not all; he even left a very interesting note pinned to his torso, one that read, “Boys screamed and girls screamed. So, I made him scream, and scream, and scream.” Well, that was quite a sight!

Now, if you are thinking this is where we come to a conclusion with Billy Kincaid’s character, no his antics don’t really end here. Going back to the storyline, he dies and wakes up in Hell. That is precisely where he encounters Vindicator, one of the five famous Phlebiac Brothers. He brings Kincaid to the Eighth Sphere to Malebolgia, where he is given the K3-Myrlu, a suit similar to Spawns. Kincaid is made to become a hellspawn and serve Malebolgia. Of course, Spawn comes to Hell where he now has to fight against the newly-empowered Kincaid. But it is a quick battle that ends with Spawn easily overpowering Kincaid even in his new suit and let’s not miss out on the part where he decapitates him.

Still thinking we have come to an end, are you? Sorry, but there is more; it is Kincaid that we are talking about. His character cannot just die and remain dead. Kincaid comes back yet again and this time as a ghost possessing people, coercing them to commit crimes based on their most violent impulses and damning the innocent souls in the process.

Also, with every single murder, Kincaid is seen growing stronger and more powerful than before. Because of Kincaid’s ability to jump from one body to the other, it becomes exceedingly difficult on the part of Spawn, officers Sam and Twitch, and Cogliostro to stop him. But in due course and post a lot of planning and plotting, Spawn is able to trick Kincaid into possessing a police officer and draws him into the ‘Dead Zone’, an area in the city where Heaven reigns and Hell has no power.

As a result, both the hellspawns become powerless and end up battling each other hand-to-hand. Making use of this opportunity, Twitch is able to fire a single shot into the cop’s forehead and this results in him killing the possessed cop as well as Kincaid both at the same time.

Developed for television by Alan McElroy, Billy Kincaid made his appearance in the HBO miniseries, Spawn: The Animated Series. Voiced by Ronny Cox, Billy Kincaid is shown to be the deranged, illegitimate son of senator Scott McMillian. He liked children but not in the usual way.

He would lure children inside his ice cream truck and then take them back home with him only to dump their mutilated bodies in disposable bags into the alleys of Rat City. Well, Kincaid marked the beginning of his doom when he kidnapped Wanda Blake’s young daughter, Cyan. It was the Violator who wanted to put Spawn to test so he ended up giving the psychotic child killer the address of Cyan.

Kincaid kidnaps Cyan and takes her home with him with further plans of torturing the child. Of course, Spawn went to rescue Cyan right after getting to know about it. A prolonged battle followed that had Billy overpowering Spawn, for the time being, causing a fire to break out and Billy grabbing the opportunity as well as Cyan and jumping right into his ice cream truck.

As he tries driving off to the city, Spawn manages to jump on top of his truck and punches through the roof to grab Billy. This only leads to Billy spinning the truck over into the alleyways taking Cyan with him into the darkness.

Spawn eventually corners him and as much as Violator wanted Spawn to kill Kincaid to fulfill his own sinister desires, the former only gets disappointed when Spawn leaves a mortally wounded Kincaid for dead and simply leaves with Cyan.

It goes without saying that the Violator in the guise of Clown is absolutely furious and frustrated that Spawn did not finish the job that he was supposed to do. As he walks right up to Billy lying on the ground, the latter asks him for some ice cream. An enraged Violator pulls out a gun and fatally shoots Billy right in the head but not before saying, “Sorry asshole, we are all out of ice cream”.

The character of Billy Kincaid inevitably happens to be one of the worst villains from Spawn’s Rouge’s Gallery.
