David Dobrik, the social media sensation, is back with his own TV show.
Dobrik has a deal with Discovery+, the streaming service owned by Discovery Channel’s parent company, to film a travel series with himself and other returning castmates from his YouTube channel. Discovering David Dobrik, a 10-episode series will premiere later this year.
“Everyone’s desire is to tour the world with their buddies, and now I get to accomplish it,” Dobrik says. “I’m looking forward to it.”
Dobrik has been quietly re-entering the spotlight in recent months, after taking a break from his hugely popular—and lucrative—presence on YouTube and TikTok in March when a former YouTube castmate, Dom Zeglaitis, was accused of sexual assault. Many of Dobrik’s corporate sponsors, including SeatGeek, EA, and Hello Fresh, distanced themselves from him as a result of the claims. In June, he resumed posting to YouTube with his Vlog Squad crew, and in August, he appeared in a Discovery Shark Week special.

Dobrik, a DACA recipient who was born in Slovakia, is 25 years old. His problematic immigration status has made it difficult for him to travel outside of the United States, and his ability to do so more easily now that the Biden Administration has implemented new restrictions, as well as his desire to obtain a green card, will be a series narrative element. Furthermore, one of the episodes of Discovering David Dobrik will highlight his first return to Slovakia since he left at the age of six, where he will reunite with his grandparents and other family members.
