The Twin, a psychological horror-thriller has received an official trailer. The film follows Teresa Palmer, a mother fighting to keep things together after her family relocates and her kid begins acting strangely, as she tells the story of a family who lost one of their twins in a horrific accident. Taneli Mustonen makes her English-language debut with the picture, which also stars Steven Cree and Barbara Marten.
Rachel (Palmer) and her little son, Elliot, are exploring their new home in the new trailer for The Twin when they come across a weird small door. Rachel gets a flashback to her second son Nathan, Elliot’s twin, being killed in a vehicle accident when an elderly woman asks why she relocated. Elliot soon starts talking to himself and looking at Rachel in bed in the middle of the night. Something evil is entering the family, and a voiceover can be heard suggesting that Elliot is being visited by something other than Nathan’s soul. Unsettling images, such as someone crushing their own skull with a picture frame, flash across the screen as the trailer progresses.
Mustonen and Aleksi Hyvärinen, who had previously collaborated, wrote the screenplay for The Twin. Hyvärinen is also the director and producer of the picture. The film was part of the Frontières Platform, which is co-hosted by the Fantasia International Film Festival and the Marché du Film at the Cannes Film Festival. It was also named best fiction film at the Finnish Film Affair and best project at the BIFAN festival in South Korea. .
