‘Rent-a-Girlfriend’ follows 20-year-old Kazuya Kinoshita, who – after being dumped by his girlfriend, Mami Nanami – decides to rent a girlfriend through a dating app. Chizuru Mizuhara is rented by him, but he rates her low after reflecting that he felt the experience was not authentic. The situation turns when Kazuya introduces Chizuru to his hospitalized grandmother, who becomes enamoured with her. Chizuru and Kazuya also discover that they are neighbours.
With Season 1 drawing to a close, fans began wondering if there would be a Season 2. Fortunately, Season 2 of “Rent-a-Girlfriend” has been confirmed. This is what we know so far.
When will Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 2 be released?
Season 2 of “Rent-a-Girlfriend” was announced relatively quickly. Crunchyroll, which streams the series, announced a second season just before the first concluded in 2020. However, there was no set release date. Fortunately, that window has now been narrowed, as Crunchyroll reported that Season 2 of “Rent-a-Girlfriend” will be released in July 2022, though the exact date is not yet known.
The fans might have been hoping for a 2021 release; the COVID-19 pandemic might have delayed the release of another season the year after Season 1. Since the pandemic has greatly disrupted Japanese animation studios, a 2022 release makes sense.
The first season of “Rent-a-Girlfriend” aired in Japan in July, and then in the United States in late August, so season 2 may follow a similar release schedule – or debut simultaneously – in 2022.

These developments between Kazuya, Chizuru, and Mami are likely to be explored further in Season 2. It is likely that the second season will give more opportunities for their actual romantic feelings to shine through than in the first season.
Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 2 Characters
As for season two of Rent-a-Girlfriend, there won’t be many changes in terms of characters. There will be, of course, some additions, more or less important, but seeing how it’s a slice-of-life anime series, we really don’t expect to see too many changes in the structure of season two.
