    Would it Kill You to Laugh?, a sketch comedy program from A24, has been ordered by Peacock. The series will release on the platform later this summer, starring Kate Berlant and John Early. Kate Berlant and John Early, a comedic combo, will star in the hour-long event.

    On a number of comic ventures, the two have frequently worked. Most famously, the two starred in and co-created 555, a Vimeo miniseries in which they worked together to improve a series of short stories. Early recently starred in the AppleTV+ series The Afterparty and has been a part of the Search Party series since 2016. Berlant had a recurring role on Search Party and will star in Prime Video’s upcoming A League of Their Own series. Berlant has also appeared in films such as Sorry to Bother You, Once Upon a Time…. In Hollywood, and Don’t Worry Darling, among others.

    Meredith Vieira, the Emmy-winning host of NBC’s morning news show Today, is expected to appear in the special, as well as game shows like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

    Berlant and Early will portray comedically exaggerated versions of themselves in the comedy special, which will take place many years after they had a very public falling out. In the special, Berlant and Early are reported to play a number of different amusing characters.

Andrew DeYoung, who previously worked with Berlant and Early on 555 and has directed episodes for shows including Shrill, Pen15, and Our Flag Means Death, will helm the film starring Kate Berlant and John Early. Berlant, Early, and DeYoung will collaborate on the comedy special as co-writers and executive producers. A24 is the studio behind the special.
