He-Man And Skeletor Could Have Been Fathers?!

A sequel to the original Masters of the Universe series was almost made in the late 1980s, depicting He-Man and Skeletor’s sons fighting each other.

As you’re probably aware, Masters of the Universe was a big deal in the mid-1980s, chronicling the adventures of the heroic He-Man and his allies versus the villainous Skeletor in the mystical realm known as Eternia.

He-Man was intensely popular in the mid-1980s where it and then slowly lost the buzz around it.Then came The New Adventures of He-Man, a 1990 animated series in which He-Man journeyed to another world to have more science-fiction centred adventures.

However, Filmation’s original concept was to have a series starring the sons of He-Man (with Teela) and Skeletor (with Shadow weaver).

A new threat emerges in Eternia shortly after the birth of these children. An “evil force” threatens to swallow and destroy the entire world. In order to save He-Man and Teela’s infant kid, Man-At-Arms and Orko team up to build The Javelon, a spaceship that combines technology and magic.

This ship is used by He-Man to send his son into space and into the future. Skeletor also hides his own son on shipin order to save his life.A man called Darius discovers the infant and names him He-Ro. Skeletor’s child is abandoned in the swamps and raised by swamp monsters. He-Ro grew up to be a hero, whereas Skeleteen grew up to be a villain.

Skeleteen takes on some of his father’s nefarious abilities and begins to pose a tyrannical danger. He-Ro gets a vision in which he sees his father speaking with him from the past. He-Man overcame the evil entity that had threatened Eternia’s destruction and tracked down his son to inform him of his fate. He-Ro is tasked with defending the Tri-Solar system against evil. He-Man says that He-dagger Ro’s is not an ordinary weapon. He is imbued with enormous strength, and he occasionally seekshelp from his father. Skeletor, meanwhile, detects a power surge when He-Man calls his son and is able to contact Skeleteen as well.

Mattel eventually authorised the proposal, but with He-Man and Skeletor instead of their children.

Years later, Lou Scheimer Productions had another idea for a similar concept, this time set in Eternia and starring He-Ro and Skeleteen as the new primary protagonists, with all of the original He-Man characters involved.
