The story followers a man named Eric Black. After the strange murder of his wife, Eric Black gets a job as a shepherd in order to get away from his grief. He then becomes stranded on a beautiful, weather-beaten island with a sinister mystery. A hostile supernatural power meets this man’s unexpected, spiralling lunacy. What begins as the ideal wind-swept getaway quickly turns into a race to rescue his sanity and his life.
Russel Owens has said that they have succeeded in creating a 360 degree, immersive environment to really build a true authenticity in a heightened, nightmarish tale, shot in one of the most beautiful, remote, and less filmed parts of Britain, using specifically designed location and studio sets. Shepherd does not reveal the exact reasoning behind what the protagonist does or his fate, allowing the audience to make their own decisions.
