As part of the filmmaker’s new first-look contract with Netflix, Zack Snyder and Army of the Dead co-writer Shay Hatten are working on a sequel.
Army of the Dead 2 is currently under preparation. Army of the Dead, which premiered on Netflix in May, was a tremendous smash for the streaming service, becoming one of their most-watched original movies. Snyder and his Stone Quarry Productions partners Deborah Snyder and Wesley Coller have signed a new first-look deal with Netflix, just weeks after setting up his next feature project, Rebel Moon, to be developed there as well. Snyder’s ambitions for further major projects for Netflix are already in the works.
Zack Snyder told The Hollywood Reporter that his goal and hope is to produce as much high-quality content as possible on a massive scale. His aim is to work on huge projects and make big movies.

Deborah Snyder stressed the need of forming a partnership based on mutual respect. When everyone trusts each other and you can take risks and be innovative, the creative process works best. They don’t generally play it safe and their stuff is a little bit more edgy. She believes it is critical to have a solid partnership and to listen to one another. And Netflix has provided us a great deal of flexibility. They have, however, embraced the idea of attempting new things without waiting for a successful outcome.
Snyder’s next project is Army of the Dead 2, which he will begin as soon as his next film, Rebel Moon, is completed. He’s supposed to be working on the sequel with Shay Hatten, the original’s co-writer.
Army of the Dead 2 doesn’t have a release date yet, but Snyder’s schedule is currently booked with Rebel Moon, so we’re unlikely to see it before 2023. For the time being, you should check out the original film on Netflix.
