Is “Bad Sisters” based on a true story?

    Bad Sisters (2022)

“Bad Sisters” is a work of fiction. In what appears to be a religious ceremony, the five eponymous Bad Sisters are seen in the first picture. In the new series, the sisters — who will be portrayed by Horgan as well as Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle, Sarah Greene, and Eve Hewson — will be brought together by tragedy.

And since everyone is dressed in black in the first new picture, we may infer that they are there for a funeral. That doesn’t seem to be their parent’s funeral, which is what would ultimately make the sister pledge they will always be there for one another. The wicked sisters’ parents passed away “prematurely,” as the series synopsis emphasizes, thus it’s more probable that they are at another funeral in the picture. Speaking of poor fortune, yes?

There is also a picture of the sisters wandering in the woods wearing birthday party hats, which is a complete contrast to the previous picture. Though we can only speculate as to what led to this strange incident, we won’t have to wait long to find out because the series premieres in a few months. With the help of Claes Bang (The Northman), Brian Gleeson (Peaky Blinders), Daryl McCormack (Peaky Blinders), Assaad Bouab (The Pursuit of Love), and newcomer Saise Quinn, Bad Sisters also has a talented supporting ensemble.

Executive produced and written by Horgan (Catastrophe, Shining Vale), Bad Sisters also features Karen Cogan, Ailbhe Keogan, Daniel Cullen, Perrie Balthazar, Brett Baer, and Dave Finkel (New Girl). Directors include Rebecca Gatward, Josephine Bornebusch, and Dearbhla Walsh; Walsh also serves as executive producer.

Merman Television’s executive producers are Horgan, Faye Dorn, and Clelia Mountford; Caviar’s executive producers are Malin-Sarah Gozin (Tabula Rasa), Bert Hamelinck, and Michael Sagol (Sound of Metal). The first season of Bad Sisters is the result of a first-look agreement that Hogan and Apple TV+ reached through Merman, the production company she co-founded with Clelia Mountford.

The first two episodes of Bad Sister’s Apple TV+ debut on August 19. After then, each Friday will see the publication of a brand-new episode of the ten-episode season.
