If you are a fan of bloodcurdling gorefests like ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ franchise or ‘Evil Dead,’ mark your calendars for the 12th of March. Written and directed by Devereux Milburn, ‘Honeydew’ revolves around a couple whose road trip goes bizarrely wrong when they take shelter at a farmer’s house in New England. The film stars Sawyer Spielberg, director Steven Spielberg, Malin Barr (‘Beach House,’ 2017) and Barbara Kingsley (‘Boarding School,’ 2018).
What we know from the trailer
The trailer begins with a sense of impending dread that keeps on intensifying throughout. Once the couple arrives at an old lady’s house, things seem eerie, but it is hard to put one’s finger on precisely what is so off-putting. With the whole appear-to-be-kind-but-isn’t vibe of the house, this film evokes the same kind of evil feelings that Ari Aster’s ‘Midsommer’ did.

Those well-versed with the genre know what’s coming
The film will capture a gloomy ambience, and it is evident that even though no explicit bloodshed was shown in the trailer, plenty can be expected in the actual film. Many have also claimed that ‘Honeydew’ shares its DNA with ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.’ For those unaware, this film told the story of deranged killer Leatherface who was loosely based on real-life serial murderer Ed Gein.
