The Assistant, a Malaysian action-adventure movie, is now available on Netflix. It tells the gripping tale of a guy who lost his whole family while jailed. After being freed from prison, Zafik sets out on a strenuous, violent quest to track down the perpetrators and exact revenge on his wife and kid while grieving the loss of both his family and the years he spent in prison. He receives assistance from an unusual partner in order to do this.
The movie had a sluggish yet fascinating beginning. We meet Zafik, who is devastated by the deaths of his wife and kid and is on a quest to locate their killers. Feroz, a mad, insane figure who aids in bringing justice, approaches him with the idea. Together, they set out on a lifetime path of revenge and retaliation.
The performances of Hairul Azreen, Kin Wah Chew, and Ledil Dzuhrie Alaudin are all excellent; they are all sincere and passionate. Feroz is a fantastic, unconventional, and mad character choice who adds humor and drama to the narrative. He serves as Zafik’s guardian angel on several occasions during the movie and also acts as a wild card by revealing himself to be closer to Zafik than we initially believe. The two female characters are out of the ordinary, passionate, and feisty, and they closely mimic the behavior of the males in their immediate surroundings.
The tale is intricate and has a shocking plot twist as it slowly and powerfully builds. As you watch, you can see something is about to happen and you’re trying to predict what the minor twists along the road will be. There are several intense, expertly staged battle sequences as the action intensifies during the course of the movie. The tremendous intensity is complemented by the fact that they are recorded in highly controlled environments. The film has a sensual aesthetic thanks to the crisp cinematography and frequent usage of neon-lit locations.
The Assistant is a nice watch overall; for a low-budget production, this action movie holds its own well. It fulfills all the requirements for a conventional action movie, and there is comfort in what we have grown to know and anticipate from this subgenre. It has a reasonable duration of slightly over two hours, and there are subtitles accessible. If you enjoy crime, action, and thriller movies, I suggest seeing it.
