British director, producer, screenwriter, and editor Neil Marshall has done some phenomenal work in the horror genre with his works like ‘Tales of Halloween,’ ‘Dog Soldiers,’ and ‘The Descent.’ Now, his new film titled ‘The Reckoning,’ which was released in August 2020, has led Marshall back to the genre and tells the story of Grace Haverstock, who is detained with Judge Moorcroft, a witch-hunter, as she is suspected of heresy post the death of her husband. Eventually, forced to deal with unjustified persecution, she finds that it is the devil himself who comes offering aid.
What the future holds for ‘The Descent’ and ‘Dog Soldiers’
In a recent interview, director Marshall and actress Charlotte Kirk were asked about this film, and inevitably, the two films that came up were ‘The Descent’ and ‘Dog Soldiers.’ Fans have waited to get answers ever since ‘Dog Soldiers’ released as to whether it will get a sequel or not, and now, they do. Neil has said that although there is no scope for ‘The Descent’ to get any further sequels after ‘The Descent, Part II,’ ‘Dog Soldiers’ was always meant to be a part of a trilogy. For a while, there were many issues regarding the film’s rights, but now the path is clear for them to start working on ‘Dog Soldiers 2.’
