Don Coscarelli’s ‘Phantasm’ released in 1979 and has since become a cult classic in the world of horror. The film was followed by four sequels titled ‘Phantasm II’ (1988), ‘Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead’ (1994), ‘Phantasm IV: Oblivion’ (1998), and ‘Phantasm: Ravager’ (2016). The story revolves around Mike Pearson, who goes on a quest to kill the Tall Man. The goose-chase between Pearson and the Tall Man continues through all the sequels, and in the last film, it seems like the Tall Man is finally defeated.

How ‘Phantasm’ became such a memorable film
‘Phantasm’ starred Angus Scrimm (‘Wishmaster,’ 1997), Reggie Bannister(‘Kenny & Company,’ 1976), A Michael Baldwin (‘Flay,’ 2019), Bill Thornbury (‘The Lost Empire’ and Kathy Lester (‘Phantasmagoria,’ 2005). Scrimm, Bannister and Baldwin returned for all the following sequels of the film. Director Coscarelli has effortlessly intertwined supernatural and aesthetic themes to create a freakish and dreamlike landscape that gets more and more intense as the film’s progress.
