We Finally Know Why It Took The Real Sequel Of ‘Cloverfield’ So Long To Come To Us

In 2008, Matt Reeves gave fans of horror a new monster to watch out for with his film ‘Cloverfield.’ The film was shot in found-footage fashion and told the story of a group of friends who try to survive in New York City as it gets attacked by an alien creature. Since then, the film has gotten two sequels titled ‘10 Cloverfield Lane’ and ‘The Cloverfield Paradox.’ Now, after ten years of the last sequel, a new Cloverfield film is in the works. This new film is being worked on by Bad Robot Production in collaboration with Paramount pictures and is said to be the true sequel to the original ‘Cloverfield.’

The operations for the franchise were not functioning smoothly

Although the plans for this sequel were already in the works in 2018, major logistic concerns kept the film from happening. Bad Robot, who has been producing Cloverfield films, had signed a massive deal with Warner Media, making them legally bound. However, it was Paramount Pictures that was in charge of releasing these films. With Bad Robot in a deal with Warner Media and Paramount Pictures owning the rights to Cloverfield films, it seemed impossible to work anything out so that the sequel could see the light of day. But both Warner and Paramount have now come to a consensus, allowing fans to witness Cloverfield 2, even if it has taken years to do so.

Some major names in the industry are working on the film

Previously, Bad Robot Productions has also worked on films like ‘Overlord’ (2018), ‘Star Trek Beyond’ (2016), and ‘Alias’ (2001). Paramount Pictures is also known for some of the most iconic films like ‘The Godfather’ (1972), ‘The Avengers’ (2012) as well as ‘Titanic’ (1997). The Hollywood Reporter has informed fans that Bad Robot hires Joe Barton to write the script for the film and that, unlike the original film, this one will not be in a found-footage fashion. Although the current sequels tie very loosely to the original, this film will be doing more justice than being a true sequel.
