American actor and director Paul Fieg has made some of the most popular films with a wide array of genres, including Bridesmaids’ (2011), ‘Ghostbusters’ (2016), and ‘The Heat’ (2013). One of his upcoming films, which have not yet been confirmed for release, is titled ‘Dark Army,’ and fans are afraid that it may not see the light of day because Universal Studios is not too keen on it. However, Fieg has made it clear that his intentions are in favour of the film being made as it is one of the projects that he has been fully committed to.
The director and the studio are currently in splits about this project
Universal may not see the film through because the studio believes it may be too costly to produce, but that does not deter Paul Fieg, who has not only referred to it as one of his favourite projects but also claimed that he is “obsessed” with it. In a recent interview, he said that the reason behind this is that he can take a lot of control over the effects that can be added to the film, and it involves a lead character, which is his best-loved to date. Considering how well ‘The Invisible Man’ did on the Box Office despite the low budget it was made from, Fieg believes that Universal may find it a bit challenging to accept the higher costs of ‘Dark Army’.

Why Fieg is determined to follow through on a genre
Finally, Paul has given a few valuable insights into the film that fans can feast on as no official information is available yet. Highlighting a sensitive yet essential conversation, Fieg talks about how some of the greatest monsters seen in films were brought to life by directors that were gay, and the reason they were successful is that they were able to incorporate their own experiences of being an outsider to society to produce tragic monsters like Frankenstein. He has also made it clear that more than making it a horror film, he wants to make ‘Dark Army’ a monster film, and he will do so by combining some of his original monsters with Universal Classic Monsters.
