In 2004, director Guillermo del Toro, Hellboy is an action fantasy film adapted from the Dark Horse Comics that revolves around the namesake, a demon warrior, and protects the Earth from threats. The superhero was created originally by Mike Mignola and has since appeared in countless comics, feature films, animation, and video games. Now, much like any other superhero, Hellboy will be seen exploring his past, the things that made him who he is, and his life from a young age in an upcoming comic issue by Dark Horse titled Young Hellboy: The Hidden Land.
Who are the creative geniuses behind this issue?
This chapter of Hellboy will mainly focus on his childhood, where he and Professor Bruttenholm find themselves in a difficult situation as they accidentally end up on an island. As they fight off monsters, they are greeted by a rescuer who goes on to become little Hellboy’s hero. The issue is by writer Tom Sniegoski, together with Mignola himself and artist Craig Rousseau. The comic’s four points will be worked on by Dave Stewart, Rachele Aragno, Wylie Beckert, and Anthony Carpenter respectively. In a recent interview, Mignola stated that he came up with the idea while working on Grim Death and Bill the Electrocuted Criminal with Sniegoski.

When can you get your hands on the comic?
Young Hellboy’s events will be set in 1947, before Hellboy: The Midnight Circus, and will explore all sorts of dangerous creatures such as giant apes, vampire queens, and even dinosaurs. Not only this, but this story will give us a new villain to look out for-Scarlett Santiago: The Sky Devil. Young Hellboy: The Hidden Land will be available starting 17th February of this year for $3.99.
