The video game series Oddworld began in 1997 with the game titled Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, developed by Oddworld Inhabitants. The latest release in the same was Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee in May of 2020, and now, a brand-new game from the series have been announced via the Epic Games Store Spring Showcase. This game is titled Oddworld: Soulstorm and, after many years, will be returning to the original character, Abe. Taking the original game and giving it some new twists and turns, comedic timing and better visuals, this game will revolve around Abe as he tries to free his people from the RuptureFarms Meat Processing Factory.
The trailer reveals some upgrades in the gameplay
In the trailer we get a sneak-peak at Abe’s adventures as he tries to fight for his people, and a voiceover explains that by taking control of this character, the player must find a way to complete the goals and missions. As expected, newer tools have been added, and better gameplay can be looked forward to, thanks to the excellent new user interface and landscape. The player can pick out their weapons and tools at the beginning of the game and pick some up along the way. It also seems as though some new facts about Abe can be brought to us along the way, and the consequences and paths of the game may change depending on the player’s style.
