A New Addition To The Resident Evil Franchise

In 2002, director Paul WS Anderson’s ‘Resident Evil’ made it to the big screens. The film redefined the genre of zombie films and gave it a storyline that was continued for the five sequels following the first film. The Milla Jovovich starrer enjoys a good 6.7 rating on IMDb and is a super fun watch. Jovovich has worked on various other action films like ‘Ultraviolet’ (2006) and ‘Survivor’ (2015), but the Resident Evil films have been career-defining for her.

    What we know

The last film in the franchise came out in 2016, and now Netflix is all set to come up with an animated movie titled ‘Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness’ to add to the same. Set a few years after the events of the fourth Resident Evil film ‘Resident Evil: Afterlife’, this animation features Claire Redfield and Leon S Kennedy’s iconic characters. Initially, the team wanted to work on it as a series but later settled on a feature film. The movie’s teaser trailer shows off excellent visuals, with ominous background music, and promises some gore-filled zombie action.

    The team

When a biohazard has started running wild, causing an outbreak of flesh-eating zombies, a bunch of tough guys set out to save the surviving human race and, in the process, themselves. 3D animation studio Quebico will be working on the film, alongside production house TMS Entertainment (Akira, 1988) and executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who is a Japanese video game producer, who has worked on games like Devil Kings (2005) and Dino Crisis (1999).
