A Peek At M Night Shyamalan’s Thriller ‘Old’ As Trailer Set To Arrive On Super Bowl Sunday

Manoj Nelliyattu Shyamalan is an American filmmaker and actor known for his films that are entwined with themes of the supernatural and almost always end with a plot twist. Shyamalan is best known for his trilogy of films titled ‘Unbreakable,’ ‘Split,’ and ‘Glass.’ Other than this, he has worked on one of the most iconic horror films, ‘The Sixth Sense,’ starring Bruce Willis, Toni Collette, and Haley Joel Osment. Almost all his films have great recognition and deep appreciation, even those without any horror elements in them like ‘Stuart Little,’ and ‘She’s All That.’

What we know about the film so far

After his last film in 2019, Shyamalan is now ready to present fans with two new projects of his, one of them titled ‘Old,’ a thriller film based on Pierre Oscar Levy and Frederik Peeters’ novel ‘Sandcastle.’ The film is set to release in July this year. A trailer will be releasing at the Super Bowl this Sunday for the same. Working with Universal on this film, M Night Shyamalan has not given us any details regarding the storyline yet. Still, ahead but ahead of the trailer premiere, we get to see a short teaser that he posted on his official Twitter handle. In the six-second clip, we see a family of three traveling in a bus, and we can hear the child ask his parents if they have reached, as the scene cuts to the film’s title being displayed with ocean waves in its font and a flash of what seems like a warning that states: “It’s only a matter of time.”

Known faces from the horror genre can be seen on screen

The film’s poster is a close-up of an hourglass, except instead of sand, it is silhouettes of people falling through. All the information made public till now is very cryptic despite the director making it clear that whatever it is will be dark and weird, we cannot know what to expect just yet. But perhaps the trailer release will give us a little more insight into what Shyamalan has in store for us this time. ‘Old’ stars Alex Wolff (‘Hereditary,’ 2018), Eliza Scanlen (‘Little Women,’ 2019), Thomasin McKenzie (‘The King,’ 2019), Abbey Lee Kershaw (‘The Neon Demon,’ 2016), Rufus Sewell (‘A Knight’s Tale,’ 2001), Embeth Davidtz (‘Matilda,’ 1996), Gael Garcia Bernal (‘Coco,’ 2017) and Vicky Krieps (‘Phantom Thread,’ 2017).
