10 Adult And Dark Batman Brave And Bold Episodes/Moments – Explored

We’ve talked a lot about how amazing the animated series from the 1990s were. Even the 1980s have been known to pop up from time to time. And Batman: The Animated Series has always received rave reviews. Today, though, we’d like to highlight another fantastic animated series that ran from the late 2000s to the early 2010s. The Brave And The Bold is the sequel to Batman: The Brave And The Bold.

This animated series has done an excellent job of adapting storylines from DC’s Silver Age. To say the least, its depth, storyline, color palette, and dialogues are superb. And, because Batman has always had a more adult and experienced fanbase, the series features many serious and gloomy episodes. This series has seen it all: death, pain, the balance of justice versus vengeance, and an odd pairing between the Joker and the Batman. And that’s exactly what we’ll be doing in today’s video.

Before we get started with the programming, we have a tiny request for our viewers. Please consider being a Marvelous Videos subscriber. The Death Of Bruce Wayne And Catwoman [Knights Of Tomorrow]

The Death Of Bruce Wayne And Catwoman [Knights Of Tomorrow]

This episode exists as a tale called the Knights of Tomorrow, written by Alfred Pennyworth, as he fantasizes about the generations to come.

It begins with Batman, who fights crime in Gotham City, as usual. He takes on a right-hand man, Robin, and together, the formidable duo takes down criminals. However, Robin (that is Dick Grayson) grows up and leaves the nest to be Nightwing. Batman fights alone once again and somewhere down the line, the Joker dies.

Without his archnemesis, Batman can retire and finally gets married to Catwoman. They settle down and have a child called Damian. Meanwhile, the mantle of Batman is passed down to Dick Grayson.

Bruce Wayne trains Damian to be the next Batman but he’s just a boy. He doesn’t like being shouldered with all the responsibilities of being a superhero. One day, the Waynes attend the opening of the Batman Museum. However, the family outing is crashed by JJ Joker, that is the Joker’s Son. Bruce Wayne fights back with help from Selina Kyle and Grayson’s Batman but ultimately, Bruce and Selina die from being crushed under rubble and a subsequent explosion.

This trauma mirrors the one Bruce Wayne faced when his parents died and creates an unshakeable resolve in young Damian. Meanwhile, JJ plans to kill the citizens of Gotham City using Joker gas. He finds the current Batman, Grayson, and stuns him unconscious to tie him to the Batman statue.

The real Joker appears in a hoovering tech seat, proving that he is still alive while JJ is just a random guy he created in his image. He plans to end the cycle of Batman since Bruce Wayne seems to be passing the mantle down. However, Damian arrives to the scene, dressed as Robin. He fights JJ while Grayson frees himself to deal with the Joker Gas situation.

However, the Joker activates the gas but Grayson’s grenade knocks the head right off and it lands in front of the Joker himself. The gas sprays on his face and kills him. Following this, Damian goes on to work as Grayson’s squire until the current Batman’s retirement. Naturally, Damian becomes the next Batman and finds his own Robin in a futuristic Gotham.

In the present, Alfred shuts his book and ponders over his tale while Batman heads out to put Selina Kyle in handcuffs instead of handing her a diamond ring.

Batman Meets Joe Chill [Chill Of The Night]

Batman Meets Joe Chill [Chill Of The Night]

This episode takes us back to the day when young Bruce Wayne had gone to the movies with his parents, Dr. Thomas and Martha Wayne. While on the way back, a man with a gun appeared in a dark alley and demanded Martha’s pearl necklace. Thomas tried to get that man but was tragically shot dead. Martha fell prey to another bullet, and the incident turned Bruce Wayne into an orphan. Bruce then swore vengeance upon all the criminals of Gotham City and decided to eradicate the city from crime. He trained his body and mind and finally became the Batman.

The Phantom Stranger and Spectre become the angel and devil for Batman as they witness the events from limbo. Spectre urges Batman to go for revenge while the Phantom Stranger reasons why vengeance will not bear the Dark Knight any fruit. The two omnipotent beings strike a deal where if Batman turns to vengeance by killing the murderer of his parents, the Spectre will gain him as an agent of divine retribution. And if he doesn’t, Bruce Wayne is free and can do whatever he pleases.

Meanwhile, a priest visits a dying criminal called Moxon. Here, it is revealed that Moxon had put out the hit on the Waynes and the name of the man he had sent was ‘Chill’. However, he died before he could blurt out his entire name. The priest leaves the premises of the prison hospital and is revealed to be Batman in disguise.

Later, the Phantom Stranger shows him a vision, thirty years back in the past, where Batman meets his parents in a charity costume ball. He fights the crooks who would later kill the Waynes with his father. The killer flees and Batman follows in pursuit when the Spectre appears. He tips Batman off with a clue as to where the killer might be in the present day. Now with the knowledge of who the man is, that is Joe Chill, Batman tracks him down.

Joe Chill is now an arms dealer who sells weapons to super-criminals like the Joker, the Penguin, and Poison Ivy. He holds a meeting with them at a warehouse to sell a device strong enough to take down Batman with ease when Batman crashes the party with a smoke attack. He then corners Chill in a room, away from the others, and reveals his true identity as the son of the people Chill had murdered in cold blood. However, before he can kill him, the Phantom Stranger and the Spectre appear to personify his scale of justice and vengeance. Batman cannot let Chill go because he knows his real identity of being Bruce Wayne. However, Batman decides to not take Chill’s life.

Meanwhile, Chill regroups with the other villains and tells them that the son of a couple he had killed has become Batman now. The villains are furious since Chill’s action is directly responsible for creating Batman and they begin to give him a beatdown. They use his lethal weapon to rip a hole in the ceiling, the rubble from which ends up killing Chill.

In the limbo, the Phantom Stranger ponders over karma finally claiming Chill. On the other hand, Bruce Wayne closes the case once and for all.

Superman Was Going To Crack Batman’s Head [Battle Of The Super Heroes]

Superman Was Going To Crack Batman’s Head [Battle Of The Super Heroes]

Superman and Batman going against each other have always been the scoop fans of DC die for. And Batman: The Brave And The Bold is not exempt from circling around this popular concept.

The episode Battle Of The Super Heroes shows Superman and Batman meeting up to deal with a jewel thief and a museum robbery. Lex Luthor turns out to be their common target but the heroes manage to save the situation with some teamwork. Following this Superman offers Batman to stay in Metropolis for a while as he needed the Bat’s help to fight crime.

Meanwhile, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen are tasked with the job of writing about a ‘Day In The Life Of Superman’ for the Daily Planet. As Lois concludes her story, she receives a mysterious red jewel necklace. Jimmy also gets a watch made from the same jewel but soon after, Toyman attacks Metropolis. Superman rushes to the scene while Lois and Jimmy head there for the story.

Superman defeats the bad guy but the Man of Steel suddenly seems to be a lot more ruthless than normal. He even tries to kill Toyman and from his conduct, it’s evident that he has gone berserk. Batman arrives in time but Superman threatens to kill him if he gets in his way.

Superman then proceeds to go on a rampage across Metropolis as he destroys the city in places while Lois and Jimmy are asked to get a scoop on the evil Superman. Batman investigates the matter and learns that both the journalists received the same jewels as gifts, right before Superman went rogue. He finds Superman in the Fortress of Solitude where the Man of Steel claims to not have sent any gifts to his so-called friends. Batman meets with Krypto and they check out the materials of the jewel together, only to realize that its the red kryptonite – a material that makes Superman behave absurdly for twenty-four hours.

Superman declares himself to be the king of Metropolis by capturing the mayor and blows Lois and Jimmy away with his super-breath. Batman arrives in his battlesuit to fight him but his gadgets are no match for the Kryptonian’s monster strength. Superman grabs Batman by his helmet and prepares himself to crash it along with Bruce Wayne’s skull. However, his twenty-four hours under the mineral’s influence come to an end before he can kill Bruce Wayne and he apologizes.

Later, the two heroes find out that the one orchestrating it all was Luthor. He obviously wanted to taint Superman’s image, as usual. However, he is defeated and his plans yield the opposite results when the people of Metropolis go on to celebrate Superman and Batman by throwing a parade for them. Once again, Luthor takes the L.

Black Canary’s Mother [The Golden Age Of Justice]

Black Canary’s Mother [The Golden Age Of Justice]

Ghosts from the past return to the present to give Batman and his allies a run for their money. Back in the days of the second world war, the supervillain Per Degaton had created a dangerous weapon called the Spear of Destiny. This spear could add and subtract years from its victims. With this weapon and his ally Professor Zee, they were almost invincible. But the Justice Society of America with the original Black Canary had defeated them back in the day. The spear was later contained by the JSA.

In the present, the older JSA seems to be having a get-together. Batman and the present Black Canary visit them but Black Canary is annoyed by how she is treated like a child as she is the daughter of the original Canary. Soon after, someone breaks into the vault.

This intruder turns out to be Professor Zee from the Second World War and he explodes the case with the Spear of Destiny. And suspended in the particles of the spear was Per Degaton, who hasn’t aged a day. He easily smashes aside Wildcat and Batman’s Batline and knocks them through the wall. Batman tries to hold on his own but to no avail as Degaton brings the ceiling down to escape. Meanwhile, Wildcat is reluctant about Black Canary joining in on the fight. The older heroes leave to fight Degaton but Black Canary is held back.

Meanwhile, Professor Zee provides Degaton with an army of robot warriors and Batman closes in on them. On the other hand, Wildcat confesses how the original Black Canary had asked her to keep her daughter safe which is why she is so protective of the current Black Canary. But ultimately, she lets her spread her wings.

Degaton’s robot army takes to the streets and the Spear of Destiny is used to turn Batman and the JSA members old. But before the robots can take over the heroes, Black Canary arrives with Wildcat and knocks the Spear out. Batman turns himself and the other JSA heroes younger once again while Wildcat defeats Professor Zee.

The robots fight back but Black Canary shatters them all with her sonic scream. Degaton picks up his spear but it explodes, ageing him by a hundred years while Zee is turned into a baby. In the end, Black Canary saves the day and Wildcat cannot help but agree that her mother would approve of her being on the battlefield.

Death Of The Blue Beetle [Fall Of The Blue Beetle]

Death Of The Blue Beetle [Fall Of The Blue Beetle]

Batman fights Dr. Polaris, the supervillain with the magnetic abilities, alongside a teenage Blue Beetle, Jaime. He defeats the villain and leaves when Blue Beetle’s armor downloads data regarding the Beetle’s predecessor. Turns out, the older Beetle was operating outside Hub City.

There, he gets his hands on the vehicle of the Silver Age Blue Beetle, the Bug, and thinks that his predecessor was in trouble. The Bug takes him to Science Island where Jaime is attacked by blue beetle-like robots. He begins to fight back with a manifested battle cannon when the Silver Age Blue Beetle a.k.a. Ted Kord arrives and asks him to stop.

Previously, Batman had contacted Jaime and was on the way to Science Island himself as he had gotten the whiff of what was going on. Blue Beetle had recovered an alien scarab from that time and Batman seemed to be worried about it. Meanwhile, Ted spoke to Jaime about using the scarab’s powers to help mankind. His army would take over humanity’s boring tasks and he gets Jaime to be a part of his plan. He powers up the scarab and his minions and then secretly sends them to defense patrol against Batman.

Batman reaches Science Island where the beetle drones bring the Batplane down. Jaime also discovers all the armed robots, ready to be launched across the world. He tries to warn Batman but Ted arrives to intercept him. However, Batman uses an electrical charge to disable Ted’s suit so Ted takes Jaime hostage, forcing Batman to surrender. It is revealed that this Ted is actually the uncle of the original Ted and is called Jarvis Kord. He wasn’t able to become the Blue Beetle that he was meant to be as he couldn’t get the scarab to work so he began to use technology to fight crime. However, the original Ted had died during his fight against Jarvis.

Inspired by this story, Jaime’s Blue Beetle suit regenerates and ultimately, Jaime is able to subdue Jarvis. The island begins to blow apart and Jaime returns in the Bug to fight back, ultimately saving himself and Batman while Jarvis presumably dies.

The Crime Syndicate Takes Control [Deep Cover For Batman and Game Over For Owlman]

The Crime Syndicate Takes Control [Deep Cover For Batman and Game Over For Owlman]

Batman’s villainous counterpart, Owlman, has always inflicted notoriety. On one occasion, things went out of hand after Red Hood got his hands on the phase oscillator, a device that can warp space and time, and allows interdimensional traveling.

Following the Red Hood using the device, Owlman appears disguised as Batman and takes the oscillator away by attacking the Red Hood who manages to escape. Owlman also happens to be accompanied by the Silver Cyclone, Blue Bowman, and the Scarlet Scarab from the Injustice Syndicate (the evil Justice League).

Meanwhile, Batman returns to his Batcave where Owlman attacks him. The two fight but Batman takes his evenly matched opponent down due to having an advantage on his home turf. Owlman is imprisoned and Batsy heads to the world of the Syndicate using the phase oscillator, disguised as Owlman. In the new world, he tells the villains to employ Plan B – which is to destroy Batman’s Earth with Silver Cyclone’s bomb as a means to warn the other worlds to succumb to their rule. It’s a dangerous plan but it buys him some time.

The Syndicate members try to get their hands on Promethium 90 to finish the bomb. The Red Hood arrives in time and teams up with Batman. However, Batman has to knock him out in front of the villains and allow them to take away the container with the Promethium 90.

Red Hood is imprisoned at the headquarters but Blue Bowman begins to suspect Batman. Meanwhile, Silver Cyclone tortures Red Hood, who had been thrown into a vat of acid. At the same time, his conversation with Silver Cyclone was being overheard by Batman who needed the Red Hood’s help to free the heroes who had been imprisoned by the Syndicate. He fortunately managed to reach Silver Cyclone in time to engage him in a duel while Blue Bowman also appears.

Batman frees the Red Hood and the imprisoned heroes, causing both sides to break out in a battle. Red Hood gets the phase oscillator and tosses it to Batman. The Syndicate members are imprisoned by the heroes but Silver Cyclone activates the bomb. Thankfully, Red Hood destroys him and with help from Batman, sends the bomb away to a dimension with zombies.

Later, Batman goes back to his world where he is surrounded by the police. Turns out, the phase oscillator had shifted time, causing three weeks to pass. In those three weeks, Owlman had escaped and tainted Batman’s image by having a run as a criminal.

Even the heroes seem to be against Batman when an old foe intercepts him. The Joker pulls the Bat into a warehouse and claims that he knows someone else has tainted the Bat’s image. He offers his help as he doesn’t want another villain to take the Joker’s place in Batman’s heart.

Batman reluctantly teams up with him and they try to escape in a Batmobile. Meanwhile, Owlman uses Batman’s contingency plans to render the heroes unconscious. Joker and Batman follow up on Owlman who offers to exchange the heroes for the phase oscillator. However, Owlman’s villains appear and overwhelm the unlikely duo. He turns Joker to his side and traps Batman as the recipient of hot wax that will kill him. However, Batman uses the phase oscillator to open a wormhole, bringing in his counterparts from the other worlds. In the end, the Batmen win the battle and Bruce Wayne is able to clear his name.

Red Tornado’s Son Becomes A Supervillain [Hail The Tornado Tyrant]

Red Tornado’s Son Becomes A Supervillain [Hail The Tornado Tyrant]

After getting dismantled in a previous episode, the Red Tornado returns as he tries to create an improved version of himself. He wants to make it in a way that the new android has emotions but Batman warns him against it and asks him to put a failsafe in. The new android a.k.a. Tornado Champion, upon activation, denounces its so-called father so the Red Tornado offers they work as a team prior to the installation of its emotional protocol.

Suddenly, Major Disaster attacks Gotham City’s docks and the two androids head to the scene of the disaster with the Bat. Together, they take the villain down but not until one of his blows render damage to Tornado Champion, who begins to glow with energy and emotions.

His emotional circuits get activated and he begins to help his father in aiding humanity. However, on noticing that people were scared of them and treated them with contempt since they were androids, he gets angry and leaves. Meanwhile, Major Disaster appears once again and another attack from him turns Tornado Champion into a vengeful android. Teenage hormones on steroids.

Red Tornado realizes that he now had to fix software anomalies in his son and Batman gets Red Tornado to activate the failsafe, much against Tornado Champion’s wishes. However, they were unaware of the Champion upgrading itself to remove the failsafe. He upgrades himself further and morphs into Tornado Tyrant, the android who wants to destroy humanity.

Ultimately, the Tornado Tyrnat almost succeeds in carrying out its plan. But Red Tornado manages to talk him out of it and knocks him out. Batman then uses a laser from the Batcave to melt him. Following the death of his son, the unemotional Red Tornado was saddened and he sheds a tear. He finally gets to feel the emotion he desperately wanted to feel, but at what cost?

If anything is clear from this, it is the fact that if any character dies, you can only assume that they are dead. Because they will come back. You could throw the Joker to the sharks and watch the creatures chew him down and the guy will still come back. But yes, Batman The Brave And The Bold excels in its mature storytelling and is definitely, ahead of its time.

And with that, today’s video comes to an end. What did you think of these episodes? Did you enjoy this video? If yes, then don’t forget to like and comment on this video. Till then, goodbye. And have a nice one!
