Always Amore, a new Hallmark Movies & Mysteries film starring Autumn Reeser (The Wedding Veil) and Tyler Hynes (An Unexpected Christmas) set to air this spring, has begun production. Patty McCormack (The Bad Seed), an Oscar nominee, co-stars in the film, which is executive produced by Giada De Laurentiis, a celebrity chef, bestselling author, and Emmy-winning TV host.
Elizabeth (Reeser) is doing everything she can to keep her late husband’s once-celebrated — but now faltering — Italian restaurant afloat, with the help of her mother-in-law Nonna (McCormack). With business on the decline, she is compelled to team up with Ben (Hynes), a professional restaurant consultant, to see if they can turn things around. Elizabeth initially opposes the improvements Ben believes will rescue the restaurant, but as they get closer, Elizabeth sees that change is not always bad. She rediscovers her love of baking, and her heart may even open up to new love.
Always Amore is a collaboration between Front Street Pictures and Gastronomy Road. Anne Fox, Dan Fox, Harvey Kahn, Allen Lewis, Bianca Versteeg, Denielle Jackson, and Orly Adelson serve as executive producers alongside De Laurentiis. Charles Cooper is the director of photography. Julie Sherman Wolfe’s script is directed by Kevin Fair.
“Working with someone of Giada De Laurentiis’ caliber, with her broad and true understanding of cinema and food, is the ideal match,” said Lisa Hamilton Daly, EVP Programming.
“Cinema and Italian culture have long been a part of my family’s history. “I’ve always wanted to combine my passions for food and movies to Executive Produce a Hallmark film that authentically reflects my incredible Italian ancestry,” De Laurentiis stated.
De Laurentiis is the granddaughter of Agostino “Dino” De Laurentiis, one of the producers who helped bring Italian cinema into the mainstream after WWII, with 38 Academy Award nominations. Everyday Italian, Giada’s Weekend Getaways, Giada at Home, Giada Entertains, Giada in Italy, Simply Giada, and Giada’s Holiday Handbook were all premiered on the Food Network in 2002.
