Netflix has developed a well-deserved reputation for creating and releasing some of the most intriguing anime content in recent years. Ultraman, which centres on both an extraterrestrial invasion and a gang of superheroes’ attempts to repel it, is one of its more recent triumphs. It’s a gorgeously animated anime with an evocative aesthetic and some excellent voice acting.
In the past, many children adored the notion of being a superhero and defeating evildoers while donning a bizarre—but occasionally cool—suit or using some goofy special talent. Because of this, both as children and as adults, we were captivated by shows like Power Rangers, Kamen Rider, and the original Ultraman series, which included Ultraman, Shin Ultraman, and Ultraman Z. Although witnessing heroes in suits is still amazing to us, some people might find Ultraman Z to be extremely silly. and somewhat stupid.
We knew we had to binge the series when Netflix opted to adapt Ultraman as an anime series, animated by Production I.G. We reviewed Ultraman season 2 recently, but we knew that wasn’t enough. Although this is now addressed, we have never examined anime that is comparable to Ultraman. These 6 anime are similar to Ultraman!
1. Fuuto PI
Fuuto PI is an adaption of the manga with the same name, same like the previous title. Apparently, the anime will premiere in 2022. Shotaro Hidari and Philip’s adventures as Narumi Detective Agency members are still depicted in the plot, which is a continuation of the Kamen Rider W series.
A man gets robbed of a costly bag by a mysterious woman who claims to be a witch before disappearing into thin air after complaining that he is powerless to appease her. Shotaro and Philip tackle the case after Shotaro runs into her on his own, but they soon discover that something is amiss in Fuuto, igniting a new conflict for the dual-purpose detective Kamen Rider W.
2. SSSS. Gridman
Of course, this list must contain the Trigger version of the Gridman tokusatsu series. High school student Yuuta Hibiki, who has lost his memory, discovers Hyper Agent Gridman inside a computer. After that, he can team up with Gridman to take on Kaiju. However, after a kaiju is slain, all of a person’s memories of the incident are lost, including any memories of someone who was murdered.
A young man wakes up in his room and discovers that he has amnesia. He is told his name is Yuuta Hibiki with assistance from what appears to be a classmate, but it doesn’t really help with the other unusual problem he is having. Yuuta can hear a voice from a computer that, unbeknownst to all around him, commands him to become Gridman and save the planet. After hearing the voice, Yuuta transforms into Gridman, a unique warrior who may be the only one capable of saving the village from an evil threat lurking in the shadows.
SSSS.Gridman, an animation that was based on the western series Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad and Gridman the Hyper Agent, served as a powerful reminder of how wonderful tokusatsu was before it was adapted into anime. Every episode brought us back to the days when we used to watch Ultraman and reminded us of why we still enjoy the more recent Ultraman, such as Ultraman Z and Greed. SSSS.Gridman and its follow-up, SSSS.Dynazenon, are perfect for anyone who kind of want to relive their childhoods, but with an anime twist!
3. Zet-Man
In addition to the superhero manga series Wing-Man, Katsura also created the more sombre Zet-Man. The connection between ZET and Alpha, two antagonistic heroes, is at the centre of the series’ plot. Jin Kanzaki, a young guy, transforms into ZET, while Kouga Amagi, a young man who employs cutting-edge technology to fight for justice, goes by the alias Alpha. 2012 saw the anime’s airing.
4. GANTZ:O
The popular horror anime “Gantz” It is really action-packed and doesn’t hold back on the blood and gore. It is intended for those with a stomach for violent content. If you can get past it, though, you will be treated to many ecchi moments. The main focus of the story is a human survival game. The anime’s main character Kei Kurono, who is slain in the game, is confined there. There are no laws or moral principles in this universe. Anybody is capable of anything. So, yeah, a lot of violent acts continue to happen frequently.
There is a room in Tokyo, somewhere. There is a black sphere in the space. People who might have otherwise died are occasionally brought into the room. There, the sphere equips them with specialised gear and weaponry before dispatching them on a mission to eradicate extraterrestrial life on Earth. The rest of the world is typically not aware of these missions as they are being conducted. Few people survive these missions since they are deadly. It is not in the least bit nice that the sphere makes the decisions. It’s called…
