Another Hit Video Game From The 90’s Coming To Our TV Screens

After numerous other video games, Sony’s classic “Twisted Metal” games are released for television. Sony Pictures TV and PlayStation Productions are the ones behind the entire project. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the duo behind the incredibly successful movies Zombieland and Deadpool, are the ones working on it. Deadline describes the series as an “Action Comedy” in the works.

    Post-apocalyptic delivery services

The show is designed around a “motor-mouthed” outsider who is given a shot at improving his life if only he successfully delivers a mysterious package across a wasteland in a post-apocalyptic world. With the help of a deranged and ‘trigger-happy’ car thief, he’ll be facing off with savage marauders driving various types of modified vehicles designed to destroy. He’ll be facing a deranged clown who the fans of the game know as ‘Sweet Tooth’ and other dangers of open roads. The reasoning behind the name is the clown vehicle, which is an ice cream truck.

    The team behind the project

Reese and Wernick are the executive producers of the show while Michael Johnathan Smith from Cobra Kai and Humanity’s End writes the series. The first Twisted Metal game was released for the PlayStation back in 1995, developed by SingleTrac and Sony. There were numerous follow-ups and spin-offs like any successful video game franchise. A movie adaptation was announced too with Mark Steven Johnson, the director behind Ghost Rider and Finding Steve McQueen. Still, that project never saw the light of day, leaving fans utterly disappointed. While the TV adaptation has been in the works for a few years, our fans surely have our hopes up once again with these recent developments.
