One of the most anticipated films of 2021 and the newest addition to Legendary’s Godzilla franchise is releasing on the 31st of March. The trailer for ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ dropped last month and fans have spent almost every single day since then trying to break it down, find the tiniest details and theorise what they can expect. Recently, an international trailer was also dropped on YouTube, revealing a tiny bit of extended fight footage. As we saw in the American trailer, Kong was heavily overpowering Godzilla. Not only did he land a few good punches and deflect the Big G’s atomic breath, but he also charged at him with his fascinating new battle axe. However, here we get to see Godzilla getting in a good hit at Kong and considering the ship these two were on when K got smacked by G, it seems like this was right before or after Kong punches Godzilla.
What the clip tells us
Another footage has been released by HBO Max via their social media handle last night and these tiny clips seem to keep fans fed just enough before the film releases. The clip runs for almost a minute, thankfully, unlike one of the first footages they revealed that was only two seconds long. The video starts off with Kong roaring at the shackles on his arm right before, seemingly, breaking them off. This is a great callback to Kong: Skull Island when Kong broke out of the chains the Skullcrawler trapped him in and used it as a weapon against the giant lizard. Repeating some scenes from the previous videos, it is once again reiterated that the little girl Jia, is the only one who can communicate with King Kong and the relationship between them is given a little more gravity.
Detailed fight breakdown
As seen before, Godzilla rams into the ship that was carrying Kong except this time there is a little more to that scene than Kong roaring at the water and G emerging aggressively. In this process, Kong is knocked off the ship and into the water and given his metal shackles, he struggles to breathe. The struggle is not all that long as we soon watch Kong punch Godzilla while they both stand on the water vessel that is barely sufficient to hold the two titans. The scene with the neon buildings is also revisited and we see Godzilla lay waste to everything around him with his atomic breath, knocking Kong out in the process. It is a scary thought, but Godzilla may have overpowered him to the point where he can no longer stand and it is here that Jia is seen once again, wiping off her tears and asking Kong to be careful. Cut to Kong’s extremely angry and vengeful face as he prepares to strike back.

Fan theory confirmed?
The footage has been getting overwhelming responses and more and more people are starting to get onboard with the Mechagodzilla theory. It makes more sense for Godzilla to be fuming the way he is except if it isn’t him at all.
