According to a wild new rumour, there will be a lot more Star Wars in the near future than previously announced. As Lucasfilm moves forward, there’s a chance that two films from the iconic IP will be released every year. Keep in mind that this has yet to be confirmed by Lucasfilm, so take the story with a grain of salt.
The rumour isn’t all that shocking, given the planned content. Several films have been announced as being in development. Various projects have major industry names associated to them.
The first announced title is a Rogue Squadron film, which will be directed by Patti Jenkins, well known for her work on Wonder Woman. Fans of the video game medium will recognise the film’s title as a nod to the popular fighter pilot franchise. The film will be released after a long wait for fans, in theatres on December 23, 2023.

The Star Wars universe will be introduced to new characters. They’ll be a group of straighter pilots on their way up the ranks.
There are also more titles in the works that have fewer detailed specifics so far. Taika Waititi, the filmmaker of Thor: Ragnarok, is working on a new feature. Given the Marvel project’s sci-fi themes, Waititi’s involvement in the creative process appears to be a suitable fit. Because Han has a sense of humour, the film could be one of the most humorous in Star Wars history.
The recent history of Star Wars films on the big screen has been uneven. Rogue One was a big hit at the box office, grossing more than $1 billion. Solo: A Star Wars Story, on the other hand, has gotten mixed reviews and is widely regarded as a box office flop.
When you consider the previously mentioned details on The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, it’s easy to see why some fans might be wary of two releases every year. Hopefully, the new theatrical experiences will elicit more positive responses.
