Michael R. Jackson, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and member of the New York Drama Critics Circle, has sold an original idea to A24 to develop an untitled horror film. Under the Square Peg label, Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen are producing. According to sources, the initiative is still in the early stages of development.
The horror-drama film Hereditary, which premiered on January 21, 2018 at the Sundance Film Festival, released in the United States on June 8, 2018, marked Aster’s feature film directorial debut. Hereditary received positive reviews from reviewers, with particular appreciation for Collette’s performance, and was a commercial success, grossing over $79 million worldwide to become A24’s highest-grossing film. Peter Travers, writing for Rolling Stone, declared it the scariest film of 2018.
Michael R. Jackson is a dramatist, composer, and lyricist from the United States. He graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Playwriting and an MFA in Musical Theatre Writing. He is originally from Detroit, Michigan.
