Much Awaited Horror Movie Candyman Releases Trailer #2!

Candyman, directed by Nia DaCosta, has released a new trailer. The movie will be out in theatres this summer. The new film, co-written by DaCosta, Jordan Peele, and Win Rosenfeld, is a continuation of the Candyman franchise, with Tony Todd and Vanessa Estelle Williams reprising their roles. It’s one of the most eagerly awaited films of the year, and you can see the new official trailer below.

The film is set in Chicago’s public housing buildings. For as long as inhabitants can remember, the Cabrini-Green housing projects in Chicago have been tormented by a rumour of a supernatural killer with a hook for a hand who can be easily called by repeating his name five times into a mirror. Anthony McCoy, the visual artist and his partner, gallery director Brianna Cartwright, move to a luxury loft condo in Cabrini, by upwardly mobile millennials and now gentrified beyond recognition, when the last of the Cabrini towers were demolished a decade later.

An accidental encounter with a Cabrini-Green old-timer exposes Anthony to the painfully horrible realities of the true tale of Candyman, just as his painting career is on the verge of stopping. Anthony begins to examine these horrific details in his workshop as fresh grist for paintings, unintentionally opening a door to a complex past that unravels his own sanity and leaves him with a terrifying wave of violence to collide with destiny.

The new trailer follows the recent release of a special Candyman video featuring Nia DaCosta in commemoration of Juneteenth. It features movie highlights as well as behind-the-scenes material.

Universal Pictures is slated to release Candyman on August 27, 2021. The film was supposed to be released last year, but it was postponed several times owing to the pandemic and the nationwide movie theatre closure. Let’s hope the wait is worthwhile, as the trailers appear to be fantastic.
